Job Description

As a member of the AIF software team you will work on state-of-the-art autonomous systems. In this role you will be responsible for implementing features around video streaming and encoding on robotic platforms and devices. You will be able to learn about and work on cutting edge technologies and leverage your knowledge of video and networking to creatively solve challenging problems.

What you'll do:

• Work with cross-functional hardware and software teams to define and implement media streaming and features leveraging video encoding for wirelessly connected autonomous vehicles.
• Contribute to testing and overall system architecture definition for real time media streaming and local storage.
• Prototype and implement video streaming features and applications for a variety of different network scenarios.
• Implement video streaming features and bug fixes across embedded platforms, Android, desktop software, and servers. 
• Help define the roadmap for video streaming within the embedded team.
• Other duties as assigned. 

Projects you might work on:

• Integrate the video streams from an autonomous quadcopter with a satellite uplink base station where it can be viewed from anywhere in the world.
• Design and implement a solution to allow real time VR streaming from an autonomous quadcopter exploring a building.
• Use video encoding techniques to decrease CPU and storage requirements on embedded platforms and send them to remote devices. 

Required qualifications:

• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineer, or a related field. 
• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong modern C++ and C programming background 
• Some experience writing Python software
• Intermediate knowledge of modern video codecs (264, HEVC, AV1)
• Experience designing solutions for network video streaming applications
• Experience working on Linux application software 
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Previous experience with RTSP/RTP, WebRTC, and/or SRT streaming protocols
• Experience with Wireshark
