Invent the next generation in Customer Service. We are not talking about chatbots - they are already here. Think instead of personalized CS experiences, defined real-time, through which customers are guided that helps them resolve their issues faster, more intuitively, and more delightfully.

The CS Human Language Technologies (HLT) team is a single threaded team that is chartered to develop the vision and lead Amazon CS into this future state. We operate in a ML-heavy problem space at the intersection of Natural Language Understanding, Conversational Modeling, Personalization and Behavioral Science. We need to build a scalable system that integrates with customer contact handling systems and can engage in real-time with millions of customers and thousands of agents globally, everyday. Success in this effort requires team excellence in both Machine Learning and Software Engineering.

We seek a leader who can help us invent this future state. To succeed in this role, you will need to be technically proficient, creative, have a keen interest in advancing the state of the art of applied ML, and able to build and lead a team of machine learning scientists (and potentially SDEs). You will collaborate with business partners, and senior leadership to influence and drive product vision and execution to maximize impact.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • A PhD in CS Machine Learning/NLP, Statistics, or in a highly quantitative field
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in predictive modeling and large data analysis
  • 1+ years of experience using R/SAS and SQL in a Linux/UNIX environment
  • 1+ years of experience with Python
  • Strong communication and data presentation skills
  • Strong problem solving ability

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experienced with NLP, NLU, Machine Translation methods and Deep Neural Networks
  • 8+ years of industry experience in predictive modeling and large data analysis
  • Proven record of delivering results
  • Strong skills with Python and Java
  • 1+ year distributed programming experience
  • Ability to work on a diverse team or with a diverse range of coworkers

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $430,000 - 530,000(hr./yr.); however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
