The Primary Goal of this role is to implement the data science solution across the project including:

  • Programme Management,
  • Scheme Design Delivery,
  • the contract management of multiple contractors as a part of the project,
  • and supporting the integration with other project suppliers, and interfacing parties.

The Data Engineer will support the head of data science in developing and implementing data science methodologies across the programme to gain insights and solve problems. The role will invering life-saving therapies and ensuring clean water to enabling the connection of people through all modes of transportation and providing access to technology – we're integrating a multitude of these solution elements to build the smart environments of tomorrow.

Our Global Business Services (GBS) specialists provide global support and expertise in tholve problem definition, modelling, software programming and reporting and will build on the new data solution that Jacobs is implementing, known as InVu.

This role is one of responsibility in satisfying the requirements of our client, our internal leadership, our business leadership and for the programme to become an exemplar of best practice data science application on a major programme.

Accountabilities/Reporting lines

  • Reports to Head of Data Science
  • Working with a community of data engineers and data analysts
  • Supports Head of Reporting in engaging with Programme Controls Lead & their team
  • Responsible for implementing data science solutions across programme
  • Responsible for identifying opportunities to improve programme outcomes through the use of data science
  • Responsible for the implementation of PMO processes and systems that support the requirements of delivering project under the delivery contract
  • Responsible for assuring the accuracy of all data provided

Role profile/Duties

  • Implementing data science processes and tools to deliver added value to the programme.
  • Being a champion for Data Science on the project
  • Manage your own and others health, safety and wellbeing
  • Providing support and advice to the Head of Data Science and other programme team members as required
  • Maintaining good working relationships with project and supply chain counterparts
  • Ensuring data flows and reporting information is assured and working efficiently though out the contract hierarchy
  • Contribute towards continuous improvement processes and procedures

Skills & Competencies

REQUIRED

  • Good understanding of Data Science Methodologies, tools and approaches
  • Appreciation of the construction environment and how projects are delivered
  • Collaborative Behaviour

FLEXIBLE

  • Software – Python, AWS/Azure/GCP, SQL, ML suite, Spark implementation
  • Understanding of working on UK government funded projects and programmes
  • Understanding of Contract Management
  • Understanding of Rail Industry
  • Understanding of High Speed Rail

Experience, Education & Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Data warehousing skills
  • Data architecture skills to build a complex database system
  • Building data pipelines for experimentation and production
  • Pattern Identification
  • Experience with visualisation of data flows
  • Working knowledge of Python Virtual Environments, their creation and portability
