Under general direction, the position reports to a team in the Electrical Test Engineering organization, the Data Scientist is a dynamic position covering technology, people, process, and data strategies for the Test Automation Team. This role will coordinate and/or participate in the development of reports, processes, statistical models, analyses, etc. to meet department requirements in the group test and project data improvement. The candidate ensures data-related mapping, policies, procedures, and processes to address complex business needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create reports for internal teams and/or external clients.
  • Collaborate with team members to collect and analyze data.
  • Develop and deploy data visualizations to communicate complex concepts and data in a simple, actionable manner .
  • Establish KPIs to measure the effectiveness of business decisions.
  • Design, develop and deploy processes to consolidate and analyze structured large data sets to find usable information.
  • Create presentations and reports based on recommendations and findings.
  • Act as liaison to business users and IT groups on database management, estimates, and strategic direction.
  • Fixes, understands, and solves data-related problems, including data gaps, inconsistencies, mapping, logic, and transfer errors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Typically requires a bachelor's or master's degree in data science, applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, or related technical/quantitative discipline from an accredited institution. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Must have a general understanding of data science concepts, principles, and theory with technical experience, demonstrating the application of those concepts.
  • Proficient with various software suites including but not limited to: MS Power BI, MS Office, MS Project, MS Project Server, and MS Visio.
  • Knowledge of one or more SQL variant, such as MySQL, MSSQL, and PostgreSQL.
  • Understand and apply Six Sigma concepts and principles.
  • Functional and technical analytic problem-solving skills.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills; capable of collaborating with a variety of stakeholders and team members.
  • Strong presentation skills needed to accurately train and report findings to a variety of audiences.
  • The ability to create fast and efficient database queries, including joining and cross-referencing cells from several tables.
  • May identify opportunities for product process improvement using statistical models to improve the effectiveness of different courses of action.
  • The ability to exercise independent judgment in solving issues of moderate scope.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance is required.
