Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager - Logistics Data Science (all genders) to join our Logistics team to help us create a fast, reliable and transparent delivery experience. You will make an impact in optimizing our on-demand last-mile delivery operations, involving hundreds of thousands of couriers and restaurants, improving the experience for 4 million orders per day in 74 countries. In Delivery Hero’s biggest Data Science organization, you will lead all of our engineering squads that build applications across the whole data value-chain. This comprises the development of our Data Engineering stack, our MLOps tooling and the more complex parts of our modelling infrastructure.

You will be supporting the whole Data Science tribe, so we can be as effective as possible in solving upcoming modelling challenges within Logistics. Your mission:

• Lead the engineering org embedded within one of the biggest data tribes within Delivery Hero, building our stack to serve Machine Learning and Data Engineering applications.
• Lead, support and mentor Engineering Managers to grow and be more effective leaders.
• You own stability and scalability across our whole stack and simplify it wherever possible.
• Improve developer productivity and collaboration within your engineering squads and with your Data Science stakeholders.
• Develop a deep understanding of the system landscape in Logistics and iterate on improving our architecture further.
• Help to shape our OKRs, roadmaps and KPIs together with the tribe leadership team.
• Drive both quarterly and long-term objectives and key results with full responsibility for executing the OKRs.
• Champion engineering best practices, be a pragmatic voice showing where to invest engineering effort.

Your heroic skills:

• 4+ years of technical leadership experience with at least 2 years of experience in managing managers.
• You have a strong engineering background and are able to evaluate complex technical decisions.
• Previous experience with Data Engineering and Machine Learning applications is a big plus.
• Experience with setting up complex systems in the cloud.
• Setting up your stack on Kubernetes is a natural first choice for you.
• You are able to adapt quickly to new learnings and find pragmatic solutions.
• You know how to coach and mentor other managers and set them up for success.
• You set up effective processes for your teams and understand how to measure their impact.
• You can communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders.
• You love to learn, are a critical thinker and creative problem solver who strives for excellence.
• Fluent in English.
