Job Description

The Business Intelligence & Analytics organization is central to Visa’s growth strategy for payments by using its key asset - DATA!

Our focus is to develop business intelligence and analytics products for Visa’s internal business & technology teams, and external clients. We have extensive knowledge of Visa’s core functional areas including data, analytics, BI, and data science. Our teams are located in Bangalore, Austin, and Palo Alto.

We are passionate about Data… every single day, we work diligently to ensure our +4,000 Visa internal business users have access to critical information assets needed to operate, we provide driven metrics and insights to +2,000 external Visa’s clients, and deliver timely merchant data and intelligence to +75% of internal business systems, and several industry partners.

Areas for which you will have responsibility:

• Assist management in development of products by helping to drive project planning, estimation, budget, resource forecasting, and technology planning.
• Review business requirement, develop conceptual approaches, design and development of various portal, data pipelines, BI and analytics components.
• Collaborate with application developers, architects, engineers, and various groups supporting applications to drive new initiatives.
• Collaborate with project and development teams to ensure on time delivery of projects, production support plans, and knowledge transfer for long-term supportability of upgrades, improvements, and deployments.
• Identify existing efficiency issues and opportunities, develop methods and systems to improve these functions, and lead their implementation.
• Develop close working relationships and dependencies with members of teams within the organization.
• Serve as liaison between the various interpersonal entities and establish relationships with members of these organizations.
• Design secure, scalable, and robust data pipelines for business intelligence applications using all possible information delivery channels.
• Work closely with data architects, application development, ETL development team to craft and implement solutions/applications using shared architecture.
• Understand the positioning of a solution within the company and to builds plan to effectively gain consensus from all participants.
• Find opportunities for further improvements and refinements to standards and processes.
• Work with the leads to handle the development, oversee programming and testing functions to ensure that projects delivered within timelines and fulfill expectations.
• Work with the application development team to develop custom screens and applications using frameworks.
• Conduct training for internal reporting team and end-user training for both technical and business users.
• Build and manage relationships with global and virtual teams and third parties on software development or support issues.
• Lead development and oversee programming and testing functions to ensure that projects fulfill expectations.
• No direct reports, and no managerial duties, or responsibilities. Individual contributor level position.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD

• Experienced technology leader with a minimum of 12+ years of hands-on experience in systems and solution design, architecture, and development.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical subject area required, advanced degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 12+ years of software development experience (with a concentration in data-centric initiatives), with demonstrated expertise in leveraging standard development best practice methodologies.
• Minimum of 12+ or more years of hands-on experience in developing business applications for large corporations with experience in both batch and online systems specifically on data related initiatives.
• Minimum of 10+ or more years of hands-on expertise with Java, Python, Scala, or any other scripting / programming language.
• Extensive experience and expertise with data pipeline development including BigData, Data Lakes, and NoSQL/RDBMS. Experience with Object-Oriented design and development, Web Services (REST/ SOAP), Microservices Architecture, and Service Oriented Architecture a plus.
• Deep knowledge of all DW-related components (Sourcing, ETL, Data Modeling, Infrastructure, BI/Reporting, Predictive Analytics) and multiple tools including custom application development to support those components.
• Knowledge management, interactive near real time data base processing and data visualization.
• Extensive knowledge of relational and non-relational databases (UDB, Oracle, RocksDB etc.) and SQL development experience is required.
• Experience with hands-on expertise with Hadoop and Big Data tools and applications will be a plus.
• Possess superb business analytic ability as well as astute awareness of innovative and standard methodologies for data warehousing, data base marketing, consumer analytics, knowledge management, and interactive near real time data base processing.
• Strong on sophisticated coding, can write very solid prototypes or core components quickly.
• Should be a technical leader who inspires people first through their technical know-how
• Experience working with and evaluating open-source technologies and proven ability to make objective choices.
• Demonstrating DevOps techniques and practices like Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, Test Automation, Build Automation and Test-Driven Development to enable the rapid delivery of working code using tools like Jenkins, Maven, Git and Docker.
