Visa Predictive Models (VPM) develops and maintains predictive models to primarily support Visa Global Data Products, Risk and Identity Products, and Cardinal Commerce. Using mostly VisaNet data and leveraging Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), our model scores help Visa clients all over the world for fraud defense, identity verification, smart marketing, credit underwriting and etc. Through our models and services, VPM fuels the growth of Visa clients, generates and diversifies revenues for VISA, and we greatly improve Visa Card customer experience.

Your responsibilities range from fundamental data analytics to developing and delivering advanced machine learning models, from visualization solutions to develop high impact AI products. Responsibilities

We are looking for a data science leader who can build an effective team, set up the agenda, lead cross functional teams to overcome challenges of system/data/model/business integration, and build a strong ML/AI foundation to enable the long term success of Visa’s business.

The Senior Director of Visa Predictive Modeling Group is responsible for driving the development of new products and optimizing Visa’s existing fraud detection capabilities. This role works closely with product owner and technology groups to articulate the business need in order to determine the most appropriate analytical approach that provides meaningful results.

The Sr. Director of Data Science will be responsible for,

  • Manage fraud risk models, pattern detection capabilities, improving the performance of existing products and developing innovative fraud solutions.
  • Drive improvements of predictive models to increase deeper insights into products with advanced statistical analysis on both financial and non-financial data
  • Regularly review client landscape and recommend, develop and implement new and creative approaches to expanding product capabilities
  • Develop and manage Visa’s offering available to Issuers, merchants and non-financial institution partners
  • Lead the design, development and management of innovative fraud and authentication solutions spanning developed and emerging
  • products and markets
  • Contribute to the product development process from ideation through market adoption
  • Develop business cases for new analytic product development via sound market, statistical, and data analyses
  • Identify, create and support new revenue sources through the development of new fraud risk products and solutions
  • Assist with the development and execution of short-term, intermediate, and long-term strategic business development plans for Visa’s fraud risk products
  • Establish and maintain strong communications with our development teams, Issuers, Acquirers, merchants and other partners

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

  • We are looking for a strong analytics thinker and problem solver, with a blend of business and technical skills,

Basic Qualifications

  • 12 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD), or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience building, leading, and inspiring a high-performing team of predictive modelers. Operate as a thought leader and people leader.
  • Previous experience in artificial neural network, RNN, CNN, natural language processing or graph database analytics is desirable
  • Experience with advanced techniques and emerging approaches to data and decision science.
  • Strong consultative skills to establish relationships across the broader organization and align with Visa’s strategy and vision
  • Ability to communicate at all levels with both business and technology leaders, with a strong understanding of business data requirements and technology capabilities and an ability to make technical concepts accessible to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to influence management and build consensus
  • Ability to to do hands on advanced modeling work
  • Proficiency with modern AI ML tools

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in predictive modeling functions
  • Experience leading a modeling team in fast-paced environment
  • Experience in financial services, preferably in payments / card networks or with an issuer, is highly desirable
  • The ideal candidate holds an advanced degree in a quantitative field, such as statistics, mathematics, engineering, or economics.
