Job Description

LinQuest Corporation is seeking an Operations Research Analyst to join our team in Reston, VA. A hybrid onsite/remote work schedule may be possible. An active Secret clearance is required.

The selected individual will serve on an analysis team of operations research analysts, operational military subject matter experts, and threat subject matter experts. The analysis team is responsible for developing new analytic processes to leverage emerging modeling and simulation capabilities.


Analysts require a detailed understanding of probability and statistical techniques for approaching complex problems with very-large amounts of data. They should be comfortable with methodologies associated with artificial intelligence such as neural nets, deep nets, topological data analysis, and reinforcement learning. Analysts should be well-versed in the application of operations research techniques and supporting skills such as database query languages, design of experiment and response surface methodologies, scripting language programming, the use of current DoD modeling and simulation environments and development of appropriate models and simulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Construct studies for senior-level military decision makers, technology developers, and acquisition professionals for use in concept of operations development, force structure design, resource allocation, and targeted technology insertion.
  • Collect, categorize, maintain, and analyze data using a range of quantitative techniques.
  • Perform analysis to address specific questions, problem statements, or objectives.
  • Apply operations research and statistical techniques across a range of military functions.
  • Define problems, identify performance measures, and perform gap and root cause analysis.
  • Advise and assess the development and utilization of mission-level modeling and simulation software for DoD customer.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Probability, Statistics, Computer Science/Engineering or other technical degree requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics to include calculus
  • At least 3 years of operations research/data science experience
  • Experience with DoD modeling and simulation environments and tools
  • Experience in the research, analysis, and applications of operations research techniques to multiple problem types
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Development and utilization of models and simulations
  • Scripting language programming
  • Proficiency with R for statistical analysis
  • Application of operations research techniques
  • Design of experiments
  • Ability to think creatively and function as part of a high-performance team
  • An active Secret clearance is required

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Top Secret security clearance
  • Master’s degree in operations research or other quantitative discipline
  • 6+ years of operations research/data science experience
  • Experience within the DoD or as a Defense Contractor working as an analyst
  • Proficiency with AFSIM, ITASE, NGTS, or other mission/campaign simulation environments
  • Database query languages
  • Ability to coordinate with government managers and decision makers to identify and solve a variety of problems and to clarify objectives
  • Understanding of military operations, planning, and analysis approaches
