Job Description

LinQuest is seeking a Data Science Intern to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO or Herndon, VA.

This paid internship will span from May-Sept 2022 (Flexible on start/end date) with the potential to go part time past this period.

Responsibilities:

• Participate on LEADS development team using data science and statistical techniques to identify data of interest, extract structured data from unstructured sources, and apply many other data wrangling patterns to make our corpus of data more useful.
• Apply techniques from natural language processing (NLP) to understand textual data, including named entity recognition, topic modeling, and sentiment analysis.
• Use neural networks and other machine learning (ML) concepts to find patterns in our data and to predict outcomes using tabular data (that we created via our wrangling).

Required Skills:

• Experience/Coursework in R or Python
• Experience/Coursework in Statistics, Data Analysis, Data Visualization, and/or Machine Learning
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with willingness to learn
• Strong communication and presentation skills

Required Experience:

• You must be a college student in good standing, enrolled in a 4 year university in your Junior or Senior year or in a Master’s program.
• Pursing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a field such as Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, or equivalent. 
• You must have a minimum college GPA requirement of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale. If you are selected for an internship, you must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 after each completed semester/term.
• Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance is required to be considered for this position.

Preferred Experience:

• Previous Data Science or Machine Learning internship experience
• Experience using GitHub and/or working in a software development environment
• Experience with data science/ML modeling and visualization within Jupyter notebooks

Compensation:

• Starting hourly pay for this position is $24 an hour
