Job Description

Best Buy Co. has openings in Richfield, Minnesota for the position of Software Engineer II. Oversee a multi-origin, zero-downtime, highly scalable web infrastructure. Build, scale and secure bestbuy.com infrastructure focusing specifically on a fully automated Linux environment. Design, develop and improve automation and tools for systems management, including development of scripts for the company’s full automated environment with Opscode Chef; Develop operational practice for technologies including Opscode Chef, multiple private and Public Cloud platforms, VmWare, JBoss, Tomcat, Apache, Sensu, Splunk, RabbitMQ, IBM MQ, Graphite, Oracle 11g; and Solr; Perform zero downtime deployments across multiple globally distributed origins; focus on building solutions from scratch using leading open-sourced methodologies and building quality solutions that may be open-sourced such as Opscode Chef cookbooks, via the Apache 2.0 license. Participate in a L2-L-3 rotating on-call schedule. There are multiple openings for this position. Full Requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent foreign degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related IT field, plus at least five

• years of progressive, post-bachelor's experience working with Linux in the consumer retail industry. Experience must include at least two years
• building servers and new infrastructures using Opscode Chef;
• building MQ clusters using HP Service Guard, IBMMQ and/or Rabbit MQ;
• patching MQ systems to meet industrial standards;
• using continuous integration and configuration management tools;
• managing applications for websites and for integrations using Websphere, MQ, Apptalk, and Webservice; and
• programming using VCenter and Splunk. In the alternative, employer will also accept a Master’s degree or equivalent foreign degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or closely-related IT field, plus at least three
• years of experience working with Linux in the consumer retail industry, two years of which must include experience in the other enumerated areas above.
