Best Buy is seeking a hands-on Senior Engineering Manager in its Multi-Channel-Ordering portfolio - where you will play a key role in shaping the future of Best Buy's order placement and processing across multiple channels. For any multi-channel retailer, success is defined by providing valuable end to end experiences to customers and employees across many different channels. This position will be building and leading empowered teams that are responsible for creating new products in our Multi-Channel-Ordering ecosystem, in support of Best Buy’s multi-channel strategy.

Multi-Channel-Ordering consists of:

• Multi-Channel Commerce – systems responsible for enabling all aspects of cart and checkout interactions across different digital platforms at Best Buy including BestBuy.com
• Product Availability and Fulfillment – systems that make and then keep promises about how and when customer orders can be fulfilled
• Order Processing and Experiences – systems that are responsible for all aspects of processing orders that have been placed, and all post-purchase experiences

You will lead the design and development of key digital technology initiatives, which includes critical components that are responsible for managing the lifecycle of an order on BestBuy.com. In addition to innovating and solving complex problems, you'll be called upon to lead agile teams of skilled engineers, testers, and business analysts, who will assist you in your pursuits. You will be partnering with various product, UX, business stakeholders and operational teams at BBY to deliver innovative solutions that will help deliver great customer experiences at scale. This is a key role that will interact with and influence other senior engineering and product leaders and partners throughout the organization. You should be data driven and must be comfortable with ambiguity and capable of managing multiple initiatives simultaneously and, along with your team, drive them to completion.

What you will do as a Senior Engineering Manager:

• Bring a creative and innovation-driven mindset with the ability to articulate engineering design strategies related to scale, performance, security, and usability
• Implement software in a service-based ecosystem, using open-source tools, with a focus on customer experience, quality, and scale
• Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand the product and customer experience requirements and partner to come up with solutions that can meet the expectations
• Manage SDLC Agile processes such as Iteration Planning, Retrospective, Design/Code Reviews, and Test Planning
• Manage multiple projects that require collaboration with cross-discipline teams, while successfully navigating competing priorities, schedules, and resources
• Manage a team of Tech Leads, Developers, Test Engineers to deliver quality products on time while creating an inclusive culture.
• Make talent decisions (including selection, development, performance management and rewards), with significant input from other capability leaders

Minimum Requirements:

• 5 or more years of experience and progressive responsibilities building highly scalable applications using Java with a Bachelor's degree OR equivalent relevant professional experience
• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or related field OR equivalent combination of education and/or experience
• 1 or more years of experience managing and leading engineering teams
• 1 or more years of experience running cross-functional projects that cut across multiple engineering and product teams
• 4 or more years experience as software developer in Java or other Object-Oriented language

Preferred Qualifications:

• 8 or more years of experience building highly scalable applications using Java, Groovy, Spring, Cassandra, Kafka, RabbitMQ
• Experience with application development that produce/consume REST APIs
• Experience with JavaScript frameworks like React JS or React Native
• Experience with Cloud Computing platforms (e.g. Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Compute Engine, OpenStack, Rackspace cloud, etc.)
• Knowledge of and working experience with open-source software (Apache, Tomcat, Memcached, etc.) as well as networks, security, firewalls, load balancers, DNS, and other infrastructure components
• Experience in test driven development, continuous integration, and deployment practices
