We Are Hiring: AI Research Scientist – Sonar Models

Perplexity is seeking experienced AI Research Scientists to enhance our in-house Online LLMs, the Sonar models. Your role will focus on transforming research ideas into algorithms, implementing them, running experiments, launching new models, and staying at the forefront of the latest advancements in LLM training and optimization.

Responsibilities

• Stay up to date with the latest advancements in LLM models and algorithms, particularly in post-training.
• Invent and implement in-house improvements and optimizations to enhance state-of-the-art (SOTA) models.
• Post-train LLMs for query answering using cutting-edge supervised and reinforcement learning techniques.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams to integrate Sonar models into our product.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in LLM research and deep learning systems.
• Strong programming skills; versatility is a plus.
• Self-starter with a willingness to take ownership of tasks.
• Passion for solving complex and challenging problems.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience working on relevant projects.

Nice-to-Have

• PhD in Machine Learning or related fields.
• Experience with academic publications and research impact.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $220,000 - $290,000 (final offer depends on experience and expertise).

Equity: Equity is included as part of the total compensation package.
