Job Description

The Data Scientist's role revolves around delivering impactful analytics to clients using available data and collaborating with project managers, ETL professionals, relationship managers, and sales managers. It demands a blend of technical, business, and interpersonal skills.

Data scientists apply data analysis and statistical techniques to various datasets to develop predictive models and apply various machine learning methods. As a consultant, they play pivotal roles in project definition, hands-on data extraction, and data quality prior diving into modeling.  After modelling, data science consultants are responsible for the presentation and deployment phases and performing the tasks that lead to successful implementation of predictive analytics for our clients.

As an Altair Data Science intern, you'll become an integral part of our Data Science Consulting team, receiving guidance and tasks from experienced data scientists.

What You Will Do:

Responsible for all aspects of the service delivery process, including but not limited to:

• Research
• Requirements gathering
• Data collection, preparation, and analysis
• Knowledge discovery 
• Predictive analysis 
• Business analysis and interpretation 
• Reporting 
• ROI analysis
• Strategic deployment of analytics
• Delivering a range of customizable, rapidly deployable solutions, encompassing B2B and B2C data-driven decision support capabilities
• Conducting presentations to internal teams

 Skills and Qualifications:

• A strong quantitative background
• Pursuing or recently completed a degree in a relevant field (data science, applied mathematics/statistics, engineering, physics, applied sciences or a related discipline)
• Proficiency in machine learning techniques and frameworks (e.g., Decision Trees, Regression Analysis, Time Series Analysis, Clustering, Association rules, NLP, LLMs, TensorFlow, PyTorch)
• Proficiency in Python
• Familiarity with other programming languages and platforms such as R, SAS and/or SQL (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, DB2) or MATLAB would be an asset
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• A willingness to collaborate and learn from experienced data scientists
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
