Who You Are

Position Summary: APM Consultant is responsible for driving solution development through requirements gathering/analysis/discovery, business plan creation, and solution level of effort estimation to ensure that client interests are met and potential business opportunities are established. Responsible for overall Architecture of Application Monitoring and User Experience Analytics and evolution of technical insights, reports, and Dashboards for applications. Using APM tools to optimize application performance and identify performance bottlenecks in web applications and provide solutions. Identify opportunities through APM tools and drill down to do root cause analysis for insights gained from User Experience tools. Provide end-to-end APM support. 

Role Description: Work as an application performance monitoring Consultant on a team to help the customer overcome their most complex challenges in performance monitoring. Gather customer application monitoring requirements, data, and diagrams. Recommend baseline monitoring thresholds KPIs and SLAs and provide monitoring tool infrastructure recommendations. Employ expertise in configuring performance monitoring tool alerts, dashboards, and data trend analysis in a monitoring tool. Use customer service expertise to help manage customer expectations, requirements, and team tasks, and organize large amounts of data to use for instrumentation into an enterprise monitoring solution.

Skills for this position will include:  

Required skills: 

  • Experience with APM Tools such as Dynatrace, AppD, and Datadog. 
  • Experience with installing Application and migration tools agents, APIs, performance monitoring tool alerts, dashboards, and data trend analysis. 
  • Experience with Kubernetes architecture including key components and EKS, IKS & IKS in the cloud.  
  • Experience with Cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP ..etc.) and experience with cloud automation (cloud formation and terraform). 
  • Experience in monitoring and configuration management for scalable environments. 
  • Experience in Analyzing CPU Utilization, Memory usage, thread usage, Garbage collection, and DB connection to verify the performance of the Application. 

Additional skills:

  • Exposure to event correlation and machine learning. 
  • Exposure to Prepare Event Management Planning and Strategy. 
  • Exposure to authentication and entitlement management with LDAP or SAML. 
  • Exposure to Middleware components such as Webserver, AppServer, Messaging, and Integration. 
  • Exposure to Java, AWS Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Typescript, JavaScript, Python, Terraform, GCP, Azure, CDK, automated testing, CI/CD experience preferred. 
  • Exposure to Preparing Performance Test Strategy, Performance Test Plan, Performance Test Summary reports, Test Scenarios and Test Scripts. 
  • Working knowledge of open-source tools would be beneficial. 
  • Exposure to integration engineering. 
  • Ability to script Python, BASH shell, and PowerShell. 

Responsibilities for this position will include:  

  • Experience in the installation and configuration of APM agents and collectors. 
  • Experience in setting up end-to-end monitoring frameworks using Appmon in critical environments. 
  • Experience in installation and configuration of APM tools Managed on-prem and Cloud Platform.
  • Experience in setting up Dynatrace managed Cluster on-prem and migrating data from Cloud to on-prem cluster. 
  • Experience in installation, configuration and upgrade of APM tools agent. 
  • Experience in Setting up Problem notifications and alerting profiles in APM tools managed. 
  • Experience in Configuring agentless Real User Monitoring and Synthetic monitoring for web-based applications. 
  • Experience in Integrate Slack with APM tools using webhook to send email notifications. 

Training & Certifications: (any combination of the following)

  • Any Certification in APM Tools (Dynatrace, DataDog, AppDynamics, and Elastic Search) is Desirable. 
  • Training or APM Tools Knowledge on Dynatrace, AppDynamics, DataDog and Elastic Search. 
  • Certified Cloud Architect (Google Professional Cloud Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional) Desirable.
