The Sr. Product Manager over Search Platform will help shape the vision, strategy, and execution of our search platform and drive innovation through machine learning, AI, and search tuning. The Sr. Product Manager, Search Platform will partner closely with the data science, digital merchandising, retail media, engineering, consumer insights, and product vertical teams to deliver a seamless, intelligent, and personalized search experience that delights our users and drives business growth. We are excited to invest heavily in this space in 2024 and are looking for a strong Sr. Product Manager to lead the charge.

What is the work?

Design & Development / Strategy / Project Management:

  • Own all aspects of product management within your domain (product suite) – vision, strategy, roadmap, prototypes, user testing, development, optimization, and business outcomes.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the market and technology landscape, how it’s evolving, the implications for our end users and how all that shapes our future.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to integrate machine learning algorithms and Gen AI capabilities into the search platform.
  • Oversee the optimization of search algorithms and parameters, ensuring that search results are accurate, relevant, and deliver a seamless shopping experience. Monitor search performance metrics and iterate on tuning strategies.
  • Work with other cross-functional teams to identify new end user/business problems that could be solved by the team; build the case for new features and gain approval from stakeholders.
  • Lead the product development lifecycle and delivery working with designers, engineers, and architects to produce a groomed, prioritized backlog that aligns the work to business objectives.
  • Continue to be an exceptional communicator, accountable for telling memorable, sticky stories about the product.
  • Make informed trade-offs to deliver solutions to market at a rapid pace.

  • Use design thinking and have an appetite for learning the art of intervention design.
  • Identify critical risks and dependencies, anticipating and resolving critical team issues bringing in leadership as needed.
  • Serve as a trusted subject matter expert, mentor, and guide.

What is your background?

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (business, communications, engineering, or design) or equivalent technology-first work experience.
  • Proven track record in digital product management (5+ years of experience).
  • Previous experience in an ecommerce or digital retail setting, with a focus on search and discovery.
  • Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence, with the ability to effectively collaborate with data science and engineering teams to drive innovative solutions.
  • Proven experience in search tuning and optimization, with an understanding of search algorithms, ranking mechanisms, and relevancy optimization strategies.
  • Experience in mobile, web and/or backend product delivery.
  • Experience with agile software development methodologies.
  • Experience with design and UX or related fields.
  • Experience with coaching, mentoring, and guiding other product managers.
