The Search Platform product team is focused on eCommerce and in-store customer search conversion. Our goal is to drive transactional retail KPIs via feature development and support for H-E-B's search and browse experiences. If you’re someone who works seamlessly with engineers, designers, and business partners, can ask savvy questions, and help drive decision making by leveraging data then our Product Manager (PM) role is a perfect fit. PMs discover, ideate, evaluate, communicate, and problem-solve in consideration of the whole that is so much more than the sum of its parts.

The Search PM will help shape the vision, strategy, and execution of our search platform and drive innovation through optimizing and tuning the HEB search experience. The PM will partner closely with the data science, digital merchandising, retail media, engineering, consumer insights, and product vertical teams to deliver a seamless, intelligent, and personalized search experience that delights our users and drives business growth. We are excited to invest heavily in this space in 2024 and are looking for a strong PM to help lead the charge!

What is the work?

Product Management / Design & Development:

  • Own all aspects of product management within your domain (product suite) – vision, strategy, roadmap, prototypes, user testing, development, optimization, and business outcomes.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the market and technology landscape, how it’s evolving, the implications for our end users and how all that shapes our future.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, other search teams, and engineers to integrate new machine learning algorithms into the search platform.
  • Oversee the optimization our search experience, ensuring that search results are accurate, relevant, and deliver a seamless shopping experience. Monitor search performance metrics and iterate on tuning and navigation strategies.
  • Work with other cross-functional teams to identify new end user/business problems that could be solved by the team; build the case for new features and gain approval from stakeholders.
  • Lead the product development lifecycle and delivery working with designers, engineers, and architects to produce a groomed, prioritized backlog that aligns the work to business objectives.
  • Continue to be an exceptional communicator, accountable for telling memorable, sticky stories about the product.
  • Make informed trade-offs to deliver solutions to market at a rapid pace.

What is your background?

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (business, communications, engineering, or design) or equivalent technology-first work experience.
  • Proven track record in digital product management (3+ years of experience).
  • Previous experience in an ecommerce or digital retail setting, with a focus on search and discovery.
  • Proven experience effectively collaborating with data science and engineering teams to drive innovative search solutions.
  • Proven experience in search tuning and optimization, with an understanding of search algorithms, ranking mechanisms, and relevancy optimization strategies.
  • Experience in mobile, web and/or backend product delivery.
  • Experience with agile software development methodologies.
  • Experience with design and UX or related fields.
