Job Description

SCOPE/PURPOSE OF POSITION:

  • The IT Director, Supply Chain Service Line is responsible to lead and oversee the technology strategy, systems and operations that drive supply chain innovation and efficiency. The IT Director of Supply Chain will play a critical role in shaping technology capabilities, ensuring seamless integration of systems, optimizing processes, and enabling data-driven, decision making across supply chain operations.
  • Corning has embarked on a multi-year IT transformation, including a focus on SAP cloud implementations and Supply Chain IT services. This role will partner with Supply Chain Executives, Division Leaders, and Information Technology Leaders to facilitate the creation and adoption of a go-forward Global Supply Management Technology Roadmap to enable the Global Supply Management Function and Business Divisions to meet their strategic, tactical, and operational goals.
  • Based in Charlotte, NC or Corning, NY the IT Director, Supply Chain Service Line will report to the DVP and CIO, Corporate Technology and Staffs. 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Partnership & Strategy

  • Working with Supply Chain Leadership, Business Division leaders and other IT groups, develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy and roadmap aligned with Corning’s supply chain goals and objectives.
  • Develop a market competitive supply chain capability to deliver cost effective services, successful implementation, integration, and support of supply chain technology solutions.
  • Collaboration with Corning leadership to identify opportunities for leveraging technology to enhance supply chain performance, cost-effectiveness, and agility.
  • Identify and assess innovative solutions that can drive transformation of legacy SC systems, continuous improvement, and competitive advantage within the supply chain.
  • Collaborate and manage direct business engagement with the Global Supply Management Service team and own the IT roadmap for supply chain services, with direct accountability.
  • Align and educate Business Engagement, and IT stakeholders on current and planned changes to the service portfolio (e.g., introductions & retirements)
  • Partner with the ERP Transformation Program to guide strategic delivery for the SAP program. 
  • Partner with Business Engagement and others to develop business cases and manage expectations about service cost, quality, risk, metrics, delivery, and lifecycle requirements.
  • Drive communication through Business Engagement leaders to business partners

Digital

  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies that could enhance supply chain operations such as IoT, AI, and machine learning.
  • Drive digital transformation mindset and thought leadership/sponsorship for forward-leaning supply chain and manufacturing technologies.
  • Utilize data analytics to generate insights, predictive models, actionable recommendations for optimizing inventory management, demand forecasting and distribution.
  • Serve as sponsor for the Digital Governance Board and the Digital Round Table to help drive direction for strategic investments and projects.
  • Work with Corning Information Security to implement robust cybersecurity measures and data protection protocols to safeguard sensitive supply chain information.

Operational Support, Delivery & Lifecycle Management

  • Manage team and services that optimize digital services specific to 12 Global Supply Management Service Groups. (i.e. Source to Pay Ops, Category Management, Supply Chain)
  • Accountable for Supply Chain service line lifecycle to ensure adherence to cost, quality, reliability, security, and risk management requirements.
  • Accountable for Supply Chain service technology execution to ensure services are delivered meeting expected service quality and business partners are satisfied.
  • Provide leadership for major incidents that interrupt service availability or diminish performance within the service line.
  • Ensure the Supply Chain service line has the capable and engaged resources necessary to effectively manage the portfolio of services; establish a team to drive the roadmap forward.
  • Form and leverage strategic relationships with key third party vendors to partner and execute IT roadmaps.
  • Develop and innovate the global IT Delivery end to end process to meet expected service quality, also ensuring sustainability by a long term multi-regional resourcing strategy.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Technical Science

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • ​​​​10-15 years of progressive experience within IT and Supply Chain domains
  • Proven track record with transformational SAP supply chain deployments or experience leading the IT stream of a global Supply Chain IT transformations utilizing SAP.
  • Expertise in IT methodologies to drive the business requirements of the future state; Ability to understand implications of technology solutions.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain processes, logistics and inventory management principles
  • Proficiency in SAP supply chain management systems and digital toolsets (S/4 HANA, GTS, Ariba, Business Network, IBP, BTP, Datasphere, etc).
  • Proven large, global program management skills—from idea inception to completion, and thorough evaluation at a global scale.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, interpersonal and influencing skills.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Forward thinking with a passion for process improvement and process standardization
  • Ability to instill and reinforce a strong customer service and business-oriented ethic in the entire team.
  • Working knowledge of concepts such as Agile, DevSecOps, Quality of Service, etc
  • Knowledge of data analytics, business intelligence, and emerging technologies relevant to supply chain optimization.
  • Proven willingness to go the extra mile, to take on the things that need to be done and maintain a positive attitude that can adapt to change.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (plants and operations).
  • Effective leadership, organization, and planning skills, with ability to handle changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated track record of on time delivery within budget; ability to drive projects to successful conclusion using influencing tools. 
  • Ability to lead international teams across multiple initiatives that span various lines of business, geographic borders, time zones, and cultures.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work in team environment and motivate others.
  • MBA preferred.

TRAVEL

  • 10 – 20% travel required, international and domestic.

This position does not support immigration sponsorship.

The range for this position is $182,220.00 - $250,553.00. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
