 We are currently recruiting for a Data Scientist to join Altria Advanced Analytics department in Richmond, VA, or we are open to remote work arrangements.

What you'll be doing:

  • Utilize various data sources to conduct descriptive and diagnostic analyses to derive insights and inform business decisions
  • Leverage big data cloud computing resources to design, test, and implement innovative analytical solutions that measure, predict, and influence business outcomes
  • Integrate a variety of data sources (e.g., retail point-of-sale, shipments, financial, consumer, geospatial) to proactively evaluate and identify consumer marketing business opportunities
  • Lead the application of advanced analytical methods, including machine learning and statistical techniques, to develop consumer-centric insights
  • Synthesize and effectively communicate analyses to business leaders, enabling data-driven decision making
  • Collaborate with brand marketing and data engineering teams to define, scope, and deliver data-driven solutions aligned with multiple priorities
  • Support the productionalization and deployment of analytical model solutions while ensuring their ongoing tracking, maintenance, and efficacy

What we want you to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Decision Science, Advanced Analytics, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field 
  • Relevant post graduate study or 1- 2+ years of progressively responsible work experience; CPG experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to independently conduct complex data manipulation, model analyses, and synthesize results
  • Firm grasp of basic statistical/economic principles and a general understanding of advanced analysis techniques
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SQL and Python programming languages; familiarity with Apache Spark & Databricks preferred
  • Knowledge of machine learning or causal inference techniques and their practical applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Curiosity, attention to detail, and a sense of urgency in exploring data and solving business challenges
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
