New York Life is seeking a skilled, experienced, outcomes-oriented Artificial Intelligence focused Senior Data Governance Analyst to develop and implement activities that apply data management principles, methods, and automated techniques to manage the development of Large Language Models and Generative AI solutions.

The successful candidate will spearhead the development, implementation and of data management strategies, particularly those involving the tagging and categorization of unstructured information, to enable generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI) business applications. This position requires a deep understanding of data tagging capabilities, ontology development, configuration of automated tagging technologies, and use of both on-premise and cloud-based Informatica Data Governance tools we are working to develop a capability for the organization that leverages experience working in an MLOps, DevOps, and or DataOps environment to create a data tier / reusable data assets in an automated and agile approach. Collaboration with stakeholders across business units, data analysts, data architects, data stewards, data engineers, and technology platform owners is key to success in this role. 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Serve as a key member of the Chief Data Officer organization, with a focus on implementing Gen AI use cases involving unstructured information.
  • Understand and influence the definition and expected outcomes of emerging Gen AI use cases.
  • Identify sources of unstructured information to enable Gen AI use cases, and design and execute automated methods for tagging these sources.
  • Provide expert-level application of data tagging capabilities, including development of ontologies, configuration and use of automated tagging technologies, and use of Informatica Data Governance tools.
  • Work with other Generative AI (G-AI) team members to create new processes and augment existing processes to bring Structured and Unstructured data models together in a single Enterprise View.
  • Bring understanding of the principles of MLOps, such as reproducibility, automation, and collaboration in machine learning projects into the development of automated ML pipelines to the development of models and a reusable data tier
  • Use on-premises Informatica Data Governance tools (AXON, EDC, IDQ, and DPM) and cloud-based Informatica Data Governance tools (CDGC, Cloud Data Marketplace, CDQ) for data management, maintaining data quality, and overseeing data compliance.
  • Work with vector databases to manage high-dimensional data efficiently.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with leaders and staff across various business and technology roles, promoting a culture where data is managed as an asset.
  • Assist in the development and promotion of data governance assets, specifically for the formalization of data management for AI, including data policies, data standards, and data management roles and decision frameworks.
  • Assist in the establishment of Communities of Practice, fostering the sharing of ideas and best practices.
  • Assist in evaluating and reporting on emerging industry trends and technologies relevant to data management.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in AI/ML or a similar role (5+ years)
  • A good understanding and passion for the role of data governance in enabling data as an asset.
  • Strong proficiency in analyzing and understanding business requirements, problem-solving, and modeling current and future state business processes and data domains/entities.
  • Expert level proficiency in data management methodologies and automated technologies, particularly those involving the definition of information ontologies, tagging of unstructured information assets, and measuring the effectiveness of tagged information to enable analytics and Gen AI.
  • Proficiency with on-premises Informatica Data Governance tools such as AXON, EDC, IDQ, and DPM.
  • Experience with Informatica's Cloud Data Governance tools such as CDGC, Cloud Data Marketplace, and CDQ.
  • Experience with vector databases and managing high-dimensional data.
  • Proficiency in Python (libraries such as scikit-learn, pandas, NumPy, etc.), SQL, and cloud-based platforms such as Azure, AWS, Google Cloud.
  • Familiarity with ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras.
  • Experience in building and deploying Machine Learning models in production environments.
  • Understanding and experience in creating and managing ML pipelines, including data ingestion, cleaning, preprocessing, model training, validation, and deployment.
  • Proficient in version control systems such as Git.
  • Understanding of advanced analytics, data science and Gen AI.
  • Ability to perform basic project management functions, including project plan development and resource/time estimation.
  • Proven ability to collaborate, communicate, build relationships, mentor, and influence a community of data and technical professionals across lines of business and functional areas.
  • Understanding and experience working in a Scaled Agile environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage with all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to effectively present innovative ideas and capabilities to motivate and influence adoption.
  • Understanding of IT methodologies, functions, and services.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple simultaneous priorities.
  • Ability to think end-to-end, connect moving parts, and anticipate and manage changes.
  • Ability to define and use metrics to drive performance and outcomes.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with BI/visualization tools like Tableau.
  • Awareness of relevant and emerging financial services/insurance data standards is desirable.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Data Science, AI, or a related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Salary range: $132,500-$197,500
