Job Description

The Corporate Compliance Department (CCD) of New York Life Insurance Company seeks a driven and experienced professional to join its Compliance Analytics and Monitoring team. This new team is responsible for providing reporting, business intelligence, and analytics support to CCD. The team is also tasked with performing testing and monitoring of the retail insurance and securities businesses and identifying opportunities to strengthen the Company's regulatory control environment. You will accomplish this through data validation, analysis, and trending, which may be utilized to define new reports, dashboards, and analytics processes that better identify potential regulatory, sales practice and supervision risks. Working collaboratively with other teams within CCD and with key business partners will be imperative.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design and testing of new reports and enhancements to existing reports and systems to improve and automate existing processes, including identification and prioritization of advanced analytics/machine learning use cases.
  • Analyze data from various sources to understand key information that can be used for proactive compliance risk identification, data visualization, and data reconciliation.
  • Prepare reports and data analyses to develop actionable insights and messaging to senior stakeholders and regulators.
  • Collect and analyze customer complaint, transaction, sales, and agent data on a scheduled and ad hoc basis.
  • Gather and review data and information received from business units around the Company in response to testing requests, monitoring exceptions, and regulatory filings/exams/inquiries, including the NAIC Market Conduct Annual Statement.
  • Perform data-driven testing and monitoring of assigned risk areas. Create and review monitoring dashboards and reports to identify potential concerns requiring further review or follow-up.
  • Collaborate with other business units in both Corporate Compliance and around the Company to develop corrective action plans and control improvements based on testing findings. Prepare testing documentation, summary reports, and distribute findings to cross-functional stakeholders and senior management as issues are identified.
  • Perform special projects as needed.

Qualifications and Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in a business, technical or quantitative discipline a plus.
  • At least 3-5 years of data analytics/business intelligence experience, preferably in a compliance, supervision, audit or risk related function.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills; strong experience with SQL, Tableau and Excel required; familiarity with Python, R and/or big data environments such as Hadoop or AWS is a plus.
  • Ability to determine and propose possible solutions using experience, judgment and precedents. Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction.
  • Knowledge of retail insurance and securities products preferred.
  • Ability to present complex analytical information succinctly and clearly to all levels of management
  • Excellent organization skills, ability to prioritize multiple tasks and follow through to meet deadlines.
