Our industry is in the middle of a radical transformation. Regulation and technology vendors are transforming the way marketers can use data to power their media investments. Our Data Science team, embedded within the larger Marketing Sciences team is at the forefront of this transformation and focuses on extracting growth for our clients using data-driven marketing. The breadth of skills required to lead this transformation is important - our leaders know how to use data:

  • to inform audience strategies in support of the planning team,
  • to extract insights on how to optimize campaigns and apply past learnings to support the investment strategy,
  • to measure business outcomes driven by our marketing efforts,
  • to understand drivers for business growth to support our clients marketing decisions.

The Marketing Sciences team is pivotal in the delivery of modern agency services. We are tightly integrated with planning and investment teams to deliver on and exceed our client’s business goals.

Responsibilities

As a key member of the Data Science team, the Associate Director will have a strong hands-on individual contributor experience, with people coach experience on the career progression roadmap. They will be accountable for developing and delivering data driven solutions across the entire analytical spectrum (descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive).

They will provide subject matter expertise on all things data and analytics to internal as well as external stakeholders, by developing compelling actionable insights through quantitative analysis, innovative thinking, and data storytelling. They should be able to actively contribute to cultivating and growing the data science practice through their contributions.

  • Participate on multi-disciplinary project teams developing marketing strategies for existing customers, as well as prospective clients
  • Partner with Planning teams to support end-to-end audience strategy by onboarding the data sources, leveraging advanced ML techniques to build, scale and deploy audiences across various platforms/ publishers
  • Partner with the Activation team to help: (1) design and setup A/B tests using best in class DOE practices (2) optimize campaign performance by running descriptive and diagnostic analyses in clean rooms and/or other analytics platforms (e.g., Google ADH, Facebook Advanced Analytics, Amazon Marketing Cloud, etc.)
  • Design and present decks that communicate data (campaign performance, test results and ad-hoc analyses) as a compelling narrative
  • Assist in designing tech infrastructure and data pipelines (ETL, data automation, data querying, etc.)
  • Partner with client and media partner data science teams to develop new methodologies and utilities
  • Elevate the Data Science practice by continuously evolving our algorithmic approach to audience, media, price optimization in programmatic channels using industry research and cutting-edge technologies

Required Skills

  • Hands-on experience in implementing ML techniques for segmentation, predictive modeling, association rules, state transitions and other applications
  • Proficient in standard SQL, Python (including pandas, numpy, sklearn, matplotlib) or R
  • Experience working in cloud environments (AWS, GCP)
  • Working knowledge of database design, data modeling and ETL process
  • Expert problem solver with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to articulate complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences alike
  • Excellent project management skills with an ability to set and achieve goals, meet deadlines and act with a strong sense of urgency without compromising executional excellence
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous situations
  • Working knowledge of AdTech and MarTech platforms/solutions is preferred: Programmatic marketplace, CRM onboarding, identity resolution solutions, clean rooms, etc.

Education and Experience

  • 6+ years of overall work experience, with at least 4 years of experience in a data science role
  • An advanced degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, engineering, information management, social sciences, or business/marketing related fields
  • Media agency or consulting experience preferred
