Job Description

The Customer Data Manager is a new data steward role created to support the ongoing integrity and reliability of customer data across our global investment management platform. In this role you will be at the forefront of maintaining the integrity of critical customer data to support our operations and identify new customer opportunities, ultimately guaranteeing our team can deliver the best possible service to our customers.

In this role you will provide the customer data lens to all initiatives involving this data domain. Initially the focus will be on managing customer data related to our client customers across various applications and ensure data governance protocols already established are upheld. However, the role will evolve to encompass some BAU responsibilities and project work related to new initiatives involving customer data. While undertaking this role you will collaborate extensively with data owners, product & development professionals and external vendors along with the wider Data Governance and Business Transformation Group.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Check the overnight data exception reports and reach out to data owners to collaboratively resolve issues closing or escalating tickets as appropriate
  • Review the new entity report from CRM and approve new records and relationships by validating entity details and ownership structures against reliable publicly available and procured data
  • Execute pre defined ETL tasks to move customer data between applications
  • Refresh & review data reconciliation file to identify any new data sync issues that need to be investigated and log tickets for these issues
  • Plan with data owners and execute a strategic customer data change (eg. company merger, name change) so that all the in-scope records are accurately updated
  • Initiate processes to edit a customer’s record in databases not administrated directly so that customer data is up to date in applications
  • Participate in project meeting to discuss requirements for integration involving customer data
  • In collaboration with the Data Governance Office and Product Manager prepare for the addition of new customer data attributes and picklist values in all in scope applications
  • Participate in a meeting with a customer data stakeholder who is building a new report and provide SME input on potential challenges (or opportunities) presented and brainstorm on how to overcome
  • Add an idea to the Data Governance team’s log for a new data quality check that will further standardize customer industry classifications
  • Be a SME panelist during a internal seminar led by the Data Governance team related to good data management practices

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A formal education, qualification or relevant professional experience in Business, Finance, Law, Data or IT
  • You ideally have experience within a financial services organisation (B2B, highly regulated environment)
  • Are aware of data protection and privacy regulation and the implications for customer data management
  • Have advanced data manipulation and analysis skills
  • An appetite to continue to enhance your data management and analysis skills in the area of data engineering or data science
  • Comfortable facilitating discussion and decisions across a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Work in a systematic manner and are precise and detail orientated
  • Proven experience working autonomously and can effectively manage your time and responsibilities
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in English
