Job Description

The purpose of the Data Integration Engineer is to ensure Honda North America Region quality, cost, and deliver (QCD) targets are continuously being met and data integration services are being seamlessly delivered across the North America Region. The Data Integration Engineer is responsible for data integration, data collection and data science for Honda North America region as well as establishing data integration architecture standards and supporting the many data integration applications that have been implemented as business focused solutions.

This includes the development and support of large-scale data structures and pipelines to ingest, move, transform and integrate data to help generate insights and meeting advanced analytics and reporting needs across Sales, Captive Finance, Manufacturing, and Design Center business units during weekdays, weekends, and holiday periods.

The Data Integration Engineer is primarily responsible for the following functions for North America Region:

  • Interface with business aligned IT applications teams to design, develop, implement and support a wide range of data integrations, transformations, and migrations.
  • Leading small, medium, and large data integration projects (e.g. Next Generation AHFC data platform, on-premise data lake migration to cloud, etc.).
  • Construct custom ETL processes: Design and implementation of data pipelines and data marts, access versatile data sources, and apply data quality measures.
  • Develop data integration roadmap for introducing and implementing new technologies.

The Data Integration Engineer position plays a vital role in boosting the AHM, AHFC, and HDMA customer experience by ensuring the smooth delivery of best-in-class data integration services that meet and/or exceed customer demands. The Data Integration Engineer requires unique combination of technical/business acumen and interpersonal skills as well as passion for delivering high quality services to customers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work together with Team/Unit Managers to achieve the project goals for the Integration and Big Data Team as approved annually: including schedule, budget and quality commitments.
  • Review project deliverables and ensure that Data Integration Architecture and Standards are being followed.
  • Ensure that teams are delivering optimal code and meet required performance standards.
  • Resolve complex data integration platform related issues. Coordinate with vendors for product related issues, patches, bug fixes and upgrades.
  • Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders on defining and implementing technology direction/roadmap within data integration technology space.
  • Meet with application teams to understand requirements and recommend high-level direction and approach to upcoming projects.
  • Administer Data Integration product platforms - including running periodic backups and performing deployments.
  • Support project and Data Integration AMS teams.

Who we are seeking:

Required Work Experience:

  • 4-6 years of Data Integration experience.
  • 2-3 years of experience with Informatica (PowerCenter, IICS or BDM/DEI).
  • 1-2 years of experience with Informatica administration.
  • 2-3 years of experience working with AWS technologies like EMR, Glue, S3.
  • 2-3 years of Data Warehousing experience.
  • Strong knowledge with one or more Database platforms (DB2, SQL Server, Postgres).
  • Strong knowledge of Unix Shell scripting.
  • Experience working with large integration projects.
  • Working knowledge of Big Data Technologies like Hive, Spark, EMR, Glue, Athena.
  • Working knowledge of Mainframe is a Plus.
  • Knowledge of application integration tools/technologies like APIC, Data Power, Axway is a Plus.

Required Education:

  • IT bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience
