AI-powered systems are increasingly being used to replace or augment human decision-making across a broad range of industries. These systems already impact many aspects of our lives and will continue to grow in their influence over the next two decades. Therefore, ensuring the reliability, safety, security, fairness, and understandability of these systems is critical. To date, tools to ensure that AI-powered systems meet these standards have lagged behind the tools used to develop them. This has led to two common outcomes: deployment of AI-powered systems without proper verification and validation, or conversely, failure to deploy a system after costly development time and resources due to a lack of trust in the system by stakeholders. 

This is where CalypsoAI comes in. We are building a suite of products and tools to facilitate the deployment of trustworthy AI by focusing on rigorous verification and validation testing.

The ideal candidate: 

We are hiring for our first internal Finance hire as Head of Finance that will report financial management responsibilities to the CEO. As our first finance hire, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and managing financial operations to support our growth and success. This role is particularly unique as we work with US government contracts and have employees based in the USA, UK, and Ireland. The Head of Finance will be responsible for overseeing financial planning, analysis, reporting, and compliance across multiple jurisdictions. We're looking for an individual who'll bring new ideas, challenge us and roll up their sleeves when needed.

YOU WILL…

• Act as the primary financial strategist and strategic partner to the CEO and executive team to drive financially-grounded decision-making and accountability company-wide.
• Own CalypsoAI’s financial model and forecasts to guide long-term financial objectives by advising on growth, hiring, spending, and strategic investments.
• Collaborate cross-functionally across Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and HR, on strategic priorities including new business lines, compensation planning, and building team budgets with an eye for removing obstacles.
• Monitor and evaluate financial performance indicators, identify trends, and propose corrective actions to drive financial efficiency and profitability, taking into account the specific financial regulations in each jurisdiction.
• Build dashboards to provide a real-time view of business performance.
• Manage all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll, pension, supplier payments, regulatory filing requirements, and financial reporting locally and overseas. Manage relationships with external tax and accounting firms as needed.
• Handle day-to-day Finance issues arising in a growing and complex business & any other financial support as requested by the senior leadership team. 
• Oversee stock administration. 
• Partner with Engineering and the broader organization to improve forecasting through automation and system optimization
• Scale a best-in-class Finance function, including growing the team as the company grows

SUCCESS…

• You will help the team build in-house FP&A capability, build unique financial models and ensure real-time & accurate financial information to all the stakeholders
• You will be required to work very closely with Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, HR & External consultants to achieve the best financial outcomes for the organization
• Keep pace with the growth phase of the organization, you will be capable of building and working across i.e. Accounting, Treasury, Reporting, etc.

YOU HAVE…

• 5+ years of accounting or FP&A experience at a high-growth technology startup.
• Expertise in financial analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow modeling for tech companies during their growth stage Experience in accounting, corporate finance, bookkeeping, taxes, and contracts.
• Led or participated in successful venture capital fundraising, investor relations, and Board reporting.
• Strong leadership skills, with proven success in building best-in-class teams, practices, systems, and cultures that contribute to strong organizational execution.
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
• Not essential but preferred Accounting and/or finance qualifications such as ACA/ACCA or CFA 
• Experience overseeing finance operations from global/remote perspective
• Extensive experience with the accounting Functions: AR, AP, GL, Financial Reporting, Payroll activities.
• Extensive familiarity with GAAP principles and ability to learn DCAA accounting standards and principles 
• Excellent written and presentation skills with strong executive presence.
• A proven track record of improving and simplifying processes & driving standardization.
