Frontend Engineer

We are growing our team at CalypsoAI and are looking for an ambitious and self-driven Frontend Engineer. As a Frontend Engineer, you will be responsible for building the user interfaces for our AI testing & validation web applications, which makes your role critical for the success of our business.

At CalypsoAI we are strong believers in component based design, design systems and micro-frontend architecture. Besides building web apps, our team builds & maintains a component library, and a collection of in-house tools & libraries which aid in supercharging our day-to-day work.

We love the modern web and where it’s going. As a standard our web applications are progressive web apps with internationalisation & theming.

Duties and responsibilities

• Utilise TypeScript, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML to create user friendly, efficient and beautiful web applications
• Work in multidisciplinary team with other professionals such as backend engineers, data scientists, UX designers & product owners
• Build high-quality mockups and design prototypes
• Provide high-quality UI elements and animations
• Optimize our web applications for minimum size & maximum performance
• Be empathetic & user focused
• Implement feedback from users and customers
• Make suggestions for better solutions to the problems we face
• Be savvy to the evolving nature of the web and it’s new features
• Work on a hybrid schedule:
• Dublin Office: Tuesday and Wednesday
• Remotely or Dublin Office: Monday, Thursday and Friday

Education/Experience Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years experience as a Frontend Engineer/Frontend Developer
• Formal qualification in the field of Computer Science, Frontend Engineering, or Design - or equivalent experience
• Love JavaScript and the web!
• Strong understanding of JavaScript language & ecosystem
• Working knowledge of modern JavaScript features (ES2015 - ES2022)
• Good knowledge of CSS and CSS preprocessors (Sass, Scss, Less)
• Excellent knowledge of browser troubleshooting & debugging, browser feature compatibility
• Experience with any JavaScript view library like Vue, React, Svelte
• Knowledge of supporting JavaScript tools like Webpack, CSS Modules

Nice to have:

• Vue 3 experience
• TypeScript experience
• Knowledge of modern CSS features (grid, flexbox, variables, animations)
• Knowledge of npm package manager & publishing packages
• Understanding of mobile-first design, atomic design and progressive enhancement
• Knowledge of new & emerging browser APIs (Service Workers, FileSystem, IndexedDB)
• Knowledge of design software such as Adobe XD, Figma or Sketch
