Job Description

UKG is looking to hire a Sr DevOps Engineer to join our extremely talented Data Science team. As a Sr DevOps Engineer at UKG, you’ll be embedded on the Data Science team where you can work on the next generation AI Platform. You’ll get to work directly with other Software Engineers, Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, Quality Engineers, Product Managers, and Directors, all of whom make up the team. In this highly collaborative environment, you will have the opportunity to grow as a software engineer and help mentor others.

The Sr DevOps Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing our CI/CD pipelines. This role requires an experienced DevOps Engineer with a strong emphasis on software quality, deployment, and provisioning, having prior experience developing automated CI/CD pipelines for complex systems. The Sr DevOps Engineer will support our Quality Engineers, Software Engineers, Architects, and Data Scientists on deployment and provisioning initiatives.

UKG works in an agile environment where there are daily stand-ups, code reviews, and constant communication within each self-managed cross-functional team. The ability to communicate effectively with Product Managers, Architects, and Software Engineers, as well as work closely with other team members are key components for success in this position.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide mentorship and technical help to 1-2 other more junior engineers.
• Collaborate with members of the team to solve challenging engineering tasks on time and with high quality.
• Engage in code reviews and training of team members.
• Support continuous deployment pipeline code.
• Situationally troubleshoot production issues alongside the support team.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines for development, staging, and production environments
• Implement, automate, and maintain software release cycle
• Implement observability solutions of software components
• Recommend improvements to the software to reduce risk, increase reliability, and provide a positive user experience
• Provide guidance on system testing practices
• Keep up to date with trends and best practices

Qualifications

• 3-7 or more years experience as a DevOps Engineer on enterprise projects
• Experience with object-oriented solutions, REST services, micro-service architecture, test-driven development, acceptance testing and performance testing.
• Familiarity with tools used to automate the deployment of an enterprise software solution to the cloud (e.g., Terraform, Concourse, Git Actions, Ansible, etc.)
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with GCP technologies such as BigQuery, GKE, GCS, DataFlow, Kubeflow, and/or VertexAI
• Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases
• Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#, Scala)
• Experience with testing tools (e.g., PyTest, Wiremock, xUnit)
• Proficiency with Git as a version control system
• Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
• Experience with Java and Spring a big plus.
