JOB CREATION (permanent only 40h/week, no consulting) **Please know that this position is 100% work from home till end June 2021 due to Covid-19**. Candidates from the Montreal region will be highly preferred. Around June our new Montreal office will be located close to Marché Central (Sauvé/Crémazie metro - 555 Chabanel West). Return to office will be progressive Summer ’21.

UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) is looking for a Spark/Cassandra software Architect to join its world class engineering team in Montreal for its latest Cloud platform: UKG Dimensions, in particular its Forecasting module. This is a job creation, you will be part of a Montreal community of 7 software architects and +50 developers. We are 13000 worldwide and grew our revenues by 9% in 2020! You are a strong technical leader who has designed successful Web/ multithreaded software applications and have a strong focus in Cloud/ML practice: we want to talk to you!

Your day to day:

• Develop strategic systems architecture plans in close collaboration with Product Managers (POs)
• Evaluate all the technologies needed to complete the designs
• Provide technical leadership within our global UKG Dimensions teams (Massachusetts)
• Rally the different members of development teams by your technical leadership, your ability to coach Java back-end developers
• Consolidate good practices that have been implemented to date while making them evolve: based on internal observations and experiences
• Will need to obtain commitment for all systems and software plans
• If necessary you might be requested to do trainings.

Qualifications

• 10 years or more of professional experience, at high levels of responsibility, to design and develop highly available and scalable software applications
• At least 5 years experience with distributed computing frameworks and no SQL databases (Spark and Cassandra)
• Experience in Cloud deployment (Google Cloud), expertise with Docker/Kubernetes
• Experience with the following technologies: Java, Spring, Rest, SOA, Distributed architecture, Machine Learning/AI
• University degree in the field of computer science (Master's degree preferred)
• Bilingualism French / English : a very strong asset as the Montreal office is rather a french speaking office
