Job Description

UKG is looking to hire a Sr Quality Software Engineer to join our extremely talented Data Science team. As a Sr Quality Software Engineer at UKG, you’ll be embedded on the Data Science team where you can work on the next generation AI Platform. You’ll get to work directly with other Software Engineers, Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, Quality Engineers, Product Managers, and Directors, all of whom make up the team. In this highly collaborative environment, you will have the opportunity to grow as a software engineer and help mentor others.

The Sr Quality Software Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing our system level testing solutions and pipelines. This role requires an experienced software engineer with a strong emphasis on software quality assurance, having prior experience developing automated testing pipelines at the system level. As well as experience performance/load testing complex software systems. The Sr Quality Software Engineer will support our Software Engineers, Architects, and Data Scientists on testing initiatives and will ensure optimal testing architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects.

UKG works in an agile environment where there are daily stand-ups, code reviews, and constant communication within each self-managed cross-functional team. The ability to communicate effectively with Product Managers, Architects, and Software Engineers, as well as work closely with other team members are key components for success in this position.

Responsibilities

• Provide mentorship and technical help to 1-2 other more junior quality engineers.
• Collaborate with members of the team to solve challenging quality engineering tasks on time and with high quality.
• Engage in code reviews and training of team members.
• Support continuous deployment pipeline code.
• Situationally troubleshoot production issues alongside the support team.
• Implement integration and system level tests
• Automate the testing pipelines for development, staging, and production environments
• Define test cases to identify problems with our software
• Analyze errors found during tests
• Document results of tests for the software development team
• Recommend improvements to the software to reduce risk, increase reliability, and provide a positive user experience
• Provide guidance on proper testing practices
• Keep up to date with trends, best practices, and the right tools for QA

Qualifications

• 3-7 or more years experience as a Quality Software Engineer on enterprise projects
• QA experience with object-oriented solutions, REST services, micro-service architecture, test-driven development, acceptance testing and performance testing.
• Familiarity with tools used to automate the deployment of an enterprise software solution to the cloud (e.g., Concourse, Git Actions, Ansible, Terraform, etc.)
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with GCP technologies such as BigQuery, GKE, GCS, DataFlow, Kubeflow, and/or VertexAI
• Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases
• Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#, Scala)
• Experience with testing tools (e.g., PyTest, Wiremock, xUnit)
• Proficiency with Git as a version control system
• Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
• Experience with Java and Spring a big plus.
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computational Linguistics or similar field
