Job Description
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to join the team as a Senior AI Scientist – or, as we like to call it, a MacGyver of AI – to drive cutting-edge machine learning at Weave. You will play a crucial role in our team of talented machine learning engineers and data scientists to develop innovative solutions and impact the development of therapeutics.
Key attributes:
- Optimism - Believes that any problem can be solved and sees the potential in any situation. Approaches challenges with a positive can-do attitude.
- Energy - Passionate and enthusiastic about problem-solving and building new solutions. Shows vigor, motivation and drive.
- Independence - Able to work autonomously and proactively without much guidance. Comfortable taking the initiative and thinking outside the box.
- Determination - Persistent in the face of obstacles or setbacks. Has a solution-focused mindset and strong will to succeed.
- Creativity - Able to see unconventional connections, new possibilities and think imaginatively about how to apply AI for unique use cases.
- Curiosity - Innately curious about new technologies, algorithms and ways of applying AI. Constantly seeking to expand knowledge and push the boundaries of what's possible.
- Resourcefulness - Adept at figuring things out and adapting AI/tools/resources in new ways to solve problems. Can work with limited materials or in less than ideal circumstances.
- Humility - Like Steph Curry, has a team-first mindset, perpetual desire to improve, respect for others, and ability to overcome adversity with courage and grace. Has the capacity for self-awareness.
What you’ll do:
- Identify new, unconventional applications of AI that can drive innovation.
- Develop AI systems and solutions to highly complex, open-ended problems with limited precedent.
- Work across domains, making improbable or unorthodox connections between needs and solutions.
- MacGyver your way out of tight spots with whatever skills, tools or resources you have access to. Every problem is solvable.
- Stretch the capability of AI technologies in new, innovative ways.
- Design, develop, and implement state-of-the-art machine learning models and algorithms for analyzing large-scale data sets.
- Be on the cutting edge of the rapidly changing field of AI.
- Optimize and fine-tune machine learning models to enhance performance, accuracy, and scalability.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand their needs, provide technical expertise, and deliver effective solutions.
- Act as a subject matter expert and provide guidance on machine learning methodologies, best practices, and emerging trends.
What you’ll need technically:
- Bachelors, Master's, or Ph.D degree, or equivalent experience in computer science, data science, bioinformatics, or a related field.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in machine learning, data science, or software engineering. NLP expertise is ideal.
- Experience in biotech or life sciences.
- Experience with knowledge graphs and/or causal reasoning is a plus but not required.
- Strong programming skills in Python, with experience in frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
- In-depth knowledge of machine learning algorithms, statistical analysis, and data visualization techniques.
Location: Remote, Global (Weave is a remote-first company)
