Job Description

Who We Are

Nuro exists to better everyday life through robotics. The company’s custom electric autonomous vehicles are designed to bring the things you need—from produce to prescriptions—right to your home. Nuro’s autonomous, goods-focused solution can give you valuable time back and more freedom to do what you love. This convenient, eco-friendly alternative to driving has the potential to make streets safer and cities more livable.

About the Role

As a Sr. Product Manager in Nuro’s Autonomy organization, your mandate is to accelerate the pace at which Nuro develops and ultimately deploys its autonomous driving technology.

The Product Management team is small, nimble, and focused on driving high-impact initiatives and new projects rather than the day-to-day direction of software development. As a result, the role demands technical fluency, a high degree of self-direction, and a strong sense for value and prioritization.

About the Work

  • Inform the autonomy roadmap. You understand how our autonomy software capabilities and limitations impact our commercial operations. You use your understanding of the big picture to define and prioritize the capabilities we need.
  • Build our understanding of autonomy difficulty. You define a data-driven set of factors that capture the difficulty of any given scenario and drive usage across validation, mileage collect, and operational deployment.
  • Evaluate our capabilities before deployment. You build processes to test our autonomy software against real-world behavior to determine whether we are ready for launch.
  • Bring clarity to how robots ought to behave. You figure out how our robots should ideally behave in the many diverse situations they encounter. You devise scalable methods of evaluating whether or not they are behaving ideally in practice, along with the feedback loops for continuous improvement.
  • Enable expansion to new geographies. Proactively identify and help solve challenges we will face in deploying autonomous vehicles in new geographies.

Requirements

  • 3-4+ years of product management or engineering technical leadership experience
  • Experience defining requirements, prioritizing roadmap, and launching new products
  • Proven ability to work across multiple interdisciplinary teams
  • Deep problem solving, analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data to back up assumptions and evaluate outcomes
  • Experience with originating and launching net new products

Nice to Haves

  • Experience developing one or more of the following kinds of products:
    • Safety-critical systems that require significant testing & validation
    • Hard Tech products that have significant HW and SW components (Robotics, Aerospace, AR/VR, Computer Vision, IoT)
    • Routing, mapping, and navigation systems
    • Complex ML models
  • Knowledgeable in technology development and product management best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communications to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with track record for delivering results in fast-paced environments
