Supernal is at the forefront of creating emerging mobility solutions that will foster the development of human-centered cities. We are designing a completely new electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft tailored to the mobility needs of future cities. What we do:

The Autonomy Computer Vision Engineer will work on the software, algorithm, and system design and implementation for the vision systems on board our vehicle. The engineer will focus on developing certifiable systems for the use of visual based perception and localization technologies for the augmentation and automation of pilot functions on board the advanced eVTOL aircraft.

What you can do:

  • Design and implement complex sensor networks, computer vision algorithms, and image processing pipelines
  • Develop software and algorithms for embedded vision systems including; detection, tracking, and classification of 2D and 3D objects and fiducials
  • Build software for image annotation, re-projection, and synthesis for multi-camera systems
  • Develop software for intrinsic/extrinsic calibration of complex multisensory systems
  • Manage data collection, training and validation for deep learning-based approaches
  • Research, build and implement processes for the certification of complex CV and ML algorithms in a safety critical system
  • Optimize algorithm performance across a wide range of development platforms and embedded systems
  • Research and evaluate potential hardware and software supplier solutions, perform trade studies and proof of concept algorithm development for academic or novel solutions
  • Other duties as assigned

What you can contribute:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering or other related fields
  • A minimum of ten (10) years' experience in building systems/algorithms in one of the following domains: computer vision, deep learning, or machine learning (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for this role)
  • Experience working with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, MxNet, ONNX, and Caffe
  • Experience in simulations and verification methodologies
  • Experience with ISO 26262, DO-178C, or other safety-related software and product development processes
  • Strong background in feature/object tracking, VSLAM, or pose estimation using both classical and ML approaches
  • Expertise in developing solutions for embedded systems and SoCs, a plus for low latency edge AI on a constrained environment
  • Familiarity with dependencies between performance of vision algorithms and image processors
  • Strong Python and C/C++ implementation experience on safety-critical real-time systems
  • Strong knowledge of low-level graphics programming (i.e. OpenCL, CUDA, GLSL)
  • Proficiency with Git, Linux and embedded RTOS(s)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proactive delivery of communication and follow up
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints
  • Self-motivated and forward-thinking personality

The pay range for this position is:

$192,400—$289,120 USD
