Job Description

The Dataiku Federal team seeks an Early Career Data Scientist for an exciting role servicing accounts in and around the Federal government, with a particular focus on Department of Defense accounts. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in the federal space and preferably will be a veteran of one of the branches of the U.S. military and/or the U.S. intelligence community. While the role is technical in nature, the primary focus is to drive engagement and adoption of Dataiku’s data science orchestration and workflow platform, Data Science Studio (“DSS”), among our customers and partners. We are ideally looking for someone with 1-4 years of experience and Dataiku will invest in your curiosity through training. You’ll receive the tools necessary to enable you to implement technologies to meet the analytics needs of our federal customers.

While most of the technical skills needed in this role can be obtained on the job, basic experience in analytics, rudimentary coding skills, and a strong technical acumen are requirements. In addition, the candidate will have great presentation and people skills, a strong work ethic, and a keen ability to recognize and capitalize on opportunities. The candidate will also become well acclimated with the federal space, specifically, Department of Defense culture, norms, and best practices.

This position is a combination of remote/hybrid work but will require regular onsite attendance at meetings in and around Washington D.C. The ideal candidate will need to be within commutable distance to downtown DC.

In this role, you’ll help the team:

  • Identify and pursue opportunities to drive adoption with our customers.
  • Analyze and investigate various types of data and machine learning applications across diverse use cases.
  • Help our federal users discover and master DSS via user training sessions, office hours, and ongoing consultative support.

Requirements:

  • Commuting distance from Washington D.C. This position is not open to relocation.
  • Experience with one or more programming languages.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and practices. 
  • Analytic experience (i.e. familiarity with Business Intelligence, Machine Learning, statistics, etc.).
  • Some experience with one or more analytic software tools (Excel, Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
  • A strong understanding of military culture, norms, and best practices with an emphasis on the analytic needs of the U.S. Military.
  • Ability to translate complex analytics concepts to business users with little to no experience in AI.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a passion for continued learning in the field of data science. 
  • Eligible for an active security clearance.

Highly Desirable:

  • Academic or prior work/military experience with R, Python, or programming experience.
  • Experience with multiple federal agencies across defense, intel, and civilian.
  • Experience in Data Science and machine learning.
  • Experience in analytic domains related to military missions and projects.
  • Experience or fluency in programming (Python or R).
  • Project management skills and an understanding of the software development lifecycle.
  • An understanding of common machine learning algorithms, practices, and related techniques.
  • Experience in all aspects of implementing data science solutions.
  • The ability to effectively manage the expectations of stakeholders and all other project constituents.
