Job Description

The Content Finance Data Science & Engineering team at Netflix is a talented group of data professionals. We help scale our Content and Studio functions by focusing on datasets describing production cost, slate financial plans, and our global workforce of vendors and production talent. These data sets represent tens of billions of dollars - a large portion of Netflix’s revenue - reinvested into entertaining the world with new, original shows. We conduct statistical analyses, develop analytic tools, develop new data sets and pipelines, and build predictive models and algorithms using machine learning, all with the goal of producing the best content we can in the best way we can.

We’re looking for a Manager to lead this team, and in so doing to be a key steward of Netflix’s lifeblood: our investment in content.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead, develop, and mentor a group of Analytics Engineers with diverse skill sets that cut across statistics, modeling, exploratory analytics, solution building, and data engineering
  • Create and evolve a strategic vision for analytic and tooling work in Content Finance
  • Collaborate directly with Product and Engineering teams to develop holistic technical solutions for our finance business teams
  • Take a lead role in determining how business intelligence and self-service reporting should be done at Netflix
  • Be a trusted thought partner for finance business teams in Production Finance, FP&A, and Accounting and their counterparts in other Content & Studio disciplines
  • Persuade business partners to try new, data-enhanced ways of doing finance, and be with them every step of the journey

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Multiple years of experience building and managing high-performing analytics teams, demonstrating the ability to hire well, inspire well, adapt to business changes, and handle challenging people issues with grace
  • A demonstrated track record of influencing both business and technical partners at a VP level
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to act as the bridge between technical audiences and non-technical
  • A background working as a hands-on individual technical contributor in a data field: business intelligence, data engineering, analytics, data science, as examples
  • Knowledge of common analytics and data engineering programming patterns: Python/R, SQL, Spark
  • Expertise in at least one set of data warehousing and reporting technologies; able to guide technology choices from experience
  • Experience with financial systems and knowledge of common financial concepts is a plus (e.g., cash, assets, expenses, currencies, forecasting, accounting, ledgers); business consulting, FP&A, or financial forecasting experience is a plus
  • Passion for content – at the end of the day, the numbers describe TV shows and films that are loved around the world
