Job Description

Netflix Original shows and films are produced all over the world and watched by more than 200 million accounts globally. We aim to give content creators the opportunity to bring their most visionary ideas to life and create joy for our members around the world through innovative storytelling.

The Content Finance Data Science & Engineering team at Netflix is a talented group of cross-functional data professionals. We help scale our rapidly growing Content and Studio efforts by focusing on datasets describing production cost, slate financial planning, and our global workforce of vendors and production talent. These data sets represent tens of billions of dollars - a large portion of Netflix’s revenue - reinvested into entertaining the world with new, original shows. We conduct statistical analyses, develop analytic tools, develop new data sets and pipelines, and build predictive models and algorithms using machine learning, all with the goal of producing the best content we can in the best way we can. We’re looking for a Senior Front-End Engineer to create beautiful, performant data products that help us plan Netflix’s future and answer critical financial questions. No two projects are exactly alike. Some are heavy on innovative data visualization. Some focus on customizable user experiences. Some are read-only dashboards while others require more complex user interactions or workflows. But always with a focus on effective, slick data presentation

In this role, you will:

  • Create beautiful, performant custom dashboards and visualizations for broad consumption within our Content & Studio teams
  • Create web prototypes of new workflows or applications that utilize analytic intelligence or machine learning. We like to move fast to try out good ideas in practice before fully productizing them.
  • Collaborate with Analytics Engineers, Data Engineers and Software Engineers to improve data collection and quality across Content & Studio
  • Partner directly with business teams in order to define your project roadmaps and gather requirements

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A senior-level front-end developer who is comfortable owning large, complex projects end to end
  • Inclined to move fast and iterate rather than wait for perfection
  • Experienced with accessing, manipulating, and visualizing data using JavaScript frameworks such as node.js, react.js, D3, or similar
  • Able to query and transform data from a database using SQL
  • Proficient in user interface design: thoughtful use of layout, color, and interaction patterns to make user-friendly experiences
  • Knowledgeable about testing, debugging, and deployment techniques for web applications
  • Experienced with building responsive web applications using RESTful web services and processing JSON data
  • Familiar with scripting languages often used for server-side manipulation of data, such as Python, R, or bash
  • Familiar with data analysis methods and have an intuition for analytic inference
  • Able to product and project manage their own work as needed
