As a member of the AI Ethics team at Indeed, you’ll work within the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) organization and across the business to build tools, systems, and processes that advance responsible and inclusive AI. Your work will directly contribute to Indeed’s mission of helping all people get jobs by reducing bias and increasing fairness in our algorithmic systems. You will have the opportunity to work with machine learning and artificial intelligence systems of widely varying scope and complexity and your work will directly impact the development of more inclusive products. We are a multi-disciplinary team that sits at the intersection of applied research and technical execution with high visibility, high impact, and enthusiastic support.
The Manager, Data Science, AI Ethics will help define and lead the way algorithmic responsibility and ethical data practices are operationalized throughout the company. You will partner with teams across the business to drive how Indeed measures, audits, and tracks the fairness of algorithms across product teams. You will translate abstract calls into practical strategies and rigorous methods, empowering teams to assess the algorithmic impact of their products on fairness in the labor market, and help guide the work of others in doing so. You will provide guidance and partner with colleagues in legal, privacy, product, engineering, and other functions to devise scalable solutions to monitoring and increasing fairness in Indeed’s algorithmic systems. Mentorship is a key component of this role, as we are a team that is dedicated to continuous learning and improvement. This is a rapidly moving domain, with new legislation, regulation, and innovation emerging constantly.
