Your Job

We’re looking for a Data Scientist, who will join our global Hiring Lab team and will support discovering interesting and important insights in the massive amount of data we have on job search and hiring. You’ll work with our research heads, economists and the rest of our Hiring Lab team to build datasets that are ready for research and finalised data products to communicate labour market trends in a compelling way. Your focus will be on the European market. You’ll also help maintain key data resources and build new research tools to help accelerate Hiring Lab’s research.

Responsibilities

• Work across a wide range of data engineering tasks - data extraction, data cleansing/processing, data integrity analysis and maintaining datasets.
• Partner with Hiring Lab’s economists to develop data products and sound algorithms to extract insights from data. Assemble data sets from both Indeed data and other sources and analyse them using statistical programming languages such as R, Python and Stata.
• Automate and maintain data products for Hiring Lab’s research needs and public consumption.
• Conceptualise and create datasets from raw data to be used for analysis and/or model building.
• Help maintain large databases across countries and time used for economic research.
• Write documentation of tools, methods and datasets
• Help prepare dashboards, charts, tables and graphics for Hiring Lab blog posts and presentations.
• Support and collaborate with other members of the team.
• Work across and partner with other data teams.

Who You Are

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Physics, Maths, Engineering or equivalent technical field (Master’s degree preferred).
• 5+ years of work experience in data science, analytics, or data engineering roles.
• A solid understanding of statistics, economics and statistical programming.
• Experience with data access and manipulation tools such as R, Python, SQL and Google Cloud.
• Working knowledge of data structures and maintaining large datasets.
• Experience with Git or other version control tools, strongly preferred.
• Interest in labour markets.
• Excellent oral communications skills in English. 
• Attention to detail and solid problem-solving skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work cooperatively in a team environment.
