Job Description

In this role, you will:

Advance the data science vision and roadmap for the company

  • Drive a transformational enterprise-wide data science agenda. Envision, define, and champion priority investment areas. Enroll key business and functional leaders and inspire the broader organization to embed data science into value generating application areas

Identify and implement high impact Data Science capabilities

  • Partner with functional analytics teams and end users to identify, prioritize, and execute high impact data science use cases to inform decisions & real-time optimization across business processes
  • Leverage data science techniques and visualization tools to deliver innovative business solutions that analyze large data sets with advanced statistical models/custom algorithms to uncover trends, patterns, and significant data relationships, leading to insights that drive business decisions
  • Partner with Data Architecture and Data Engineering teammates to facilitate easy and effective access to data and computing resources
  • Source, deploy, and provide training for AL/ML applications and solutions to enable self-service data science practices in the functions and business teams
  • Monitor external data science trends, identify implications, and proactively develop best-in-class processes and techniques to leverage data science across consumer touchpoints and business operations

Lead the Enterprise Data Science Center

  • Define and drive adoption of standards of practice and common platforms for scalability, interoperability, cost efficiency, and quality
  • Foster collaboration among data science and analytics teams across functions; Identify and connect existing and external data science capabilities; Guide build/buy decisions
  • Promote data science capabilities adoption across the Company through training, events, and consulting

Coach and develop Enterprise and functional data science talents

  • Attract, develop, and retain Enterprise Data Science team members
  • Coordinate data science talent management across functions, including career pathing, capability planning, and collaborative talent planning

What we look for:

  • 7+ years of experience in business-facing data science and analytics roles
  • 3+ years as an established leader of data science teams that successfully delivered data-driven solutions and insights
  • Experience developing and evolving a data science roadmap, executing the vision behind it, and partnering with stakeholders to create business value from it
  • Track record of delivering analytics products and insights, and influencing business decisions
  • Master’s or PhD degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Analytics, or related quantitative discipline is highly preferred. Specialization or coursework in data science/ML/AI preferred.
  • Experience developing modern data science pipelines and best practices in Python (preferably also R) and deploying them to cloud environments.
  • Expertise with open source data science and statistics packages, including machine learning and deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.)
  • Experience working with cloud and big data ecosystems (Azure/GCP/AWS, data lakes, Spark, Hive, etc.)
  • Experience in advanced statistical analysis and modeling. Ability to interrogate data, perform analyses, interpret data, and present to business audiences
  • Experience using visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) to simplify insight discovery
  • Working knowledge of structured relational databases and SQL.
  • Excellent communications skills. Ability to synthesize, simplify, and explain complex problems to different audiences across functions and levels. Ability to convey insight through storytelling
  • Self-starter comfortable with ambiguity. Able to identify needs, develop a plan of action, and implement. Excellent time and project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship building, and influence skills
  • Demonstrated ability to attract, hire, coach, and inspire talent
