Job Description

The Data Science Analyst position implements advanced analytics models and solutions to yield predictive and prescriptive insights from data. This position works with a team responsible to research and implement advanced analytic models. He/She will leverage industry standard machine learning and data visualization tools to transform data and analytics requirements into predictive solutions. The Data Science Analyst builds and runs models designed to solve business problems.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Designs and maintains regression and classification models
  • Develops data features that will serve as inputs to AI/Machine Learning/OR techniques
  • Writes code using SQL and R/Python/Scala to collect and manipulate data from multiple data sources
  • Explores data to determine correlation of data to domain classification or regression problem
  • Assists with the development of procedures to monitor model and production system performance/integrity
  • Helps to identify opportunities to move from predictive to prescriptive analytics to more quickly turn data into results that support data-driven decisions
  • Leverages analytics and visualization tools to design and present information to drive fact-based decision making
  • Demonstrates visualization techniques and supports training to encourage adoption of visualization tools
  • Creates impactful visualizations for internal publication to facilitate communication
  • Reviews visualizations for data accuracy and integrity to meet business standards
  • Develops analytical reports and represents large, complex sets of data and associated solutions to support business objectives
  • Where permitted by applicable law, employees must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by their date of hire/placement to be considered for employment. Fully vaccinated means two weeks after receiving the second shot for Pfizer and Moderna, or two weeks after Johnson & Johnson

Knowledge and Skills

  • Identifies current and future needs of the customer or business; understands how business needs dictate the project’s requirements, project direction, business objectives, and resource allocation; makes recommendations on the solutions-design phase of the project
  • Identifies the business problem that requires research; identifies sources of information that are relevant to a problem; reviews literature and data related to the research question; summarizes information from data sources
  • Demonstrates a basic understanding of a business problem; recommends a solution to solve the business problems
  • Participates in evaluation of emerging industry technologies. Understands technologies' impact on current IT architectures and infrastructures
  • Captures and disseminates technical and business information. Facilitates the business change decision-making processes and the planning and implementation of change
  • Demonstrates some advanced knowledge of statistical analyses, sampling, and tests; demonstrates the ability to identify outliers in data sets; troubleshoots existing statistical models; demonstrates basic knowledge of time series analysis
  • Conducts root cause analysis and diagnoses and manages technical problems using pre-defined steps, limited experience, and available tools
  • Demonstrates a general understanding of technology used by the company; communicates basic technological concepts and terminology; applies standard technology in daily work
  • Master's Degree (or internationally comparable degree) in Operations Research, Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics or Analytics - Preferred
