Applied Materials AIX (Actionable Insight Accelerator) Products group is searching for a Data Science Engineer to join our team. AIX is a Data Analytics platform that enables development and deployment of new chip technologies. AIX allows engineers to innovate and optimize semiconductor processes in real-time, and control thousands of variables to improve semiconductor performance, power, area-cost and time to market (PPACt).

Responsibilities

  • Develop algorithms and data pipelines for analytics-driven optimization of manufacturing systems
  • Implement ML/AI modeling techniques to interpret sensor data
  • Drive product enhancements using modern data science and database technologies
  • Optimize application performance, troubleshoot and resolve data processing issues
  • Effectively communicate technical concepts and solutions to project engineers and managers

Qualification and Skills

  • Experienced in Python software development and common database flavors (SQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience with machine learning and statistical data analysis techniques: regression, time series analysis, hypothesis testing, classification, and clustering
  • Proficient with scientific computing and visualization packages like numpy, SciPy, pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, matplotlib, seaborn, plotly/Dash, etc.
  • Familiarity with the Software Development Lifecycle and version control best practices
  • University degree in Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Hands on experience with technical engineering applications in disciplines such as materials science, electrical or mechanical engineering
  • Self-motivated, individual contributor with excellent communication skills

Work Location: Santa Clara, CA (Remote Hybrid)
