Senior Manager, Machine Learning Engineering

As a Senior Manager of Machine Learning Engineering, you will lead teams focused on building and optimizing machine learning systems and data pipelines that power our AI products. This role is responsible for shaping the strategic and technical direction of the machine learning engineering team, ensuring the development of scalable and reliable ML models and systems. You will be hands-on in building a robust infrastructure that supports model training, deployment, and monitoring at scale.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of machine learning engineers specializing in model development, deployment, and optimization.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.
• Conduct regular performance reviews, set goals, and provide constructive feedback.
• Provide technical direction on ML system architecture and scaling solutions.
• Oversee the design and implementation of scalable ML solutions.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to prioritize and plan ML team initiatives.
• Ensure quality deliverables, maintain system reliability, and uphold coding standards.
• Monitor and maintain ML services and platforms, ensuring availability.
• Work closely with product managers, data scientists, and stakeholders to deliver ML solutions.
• Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in ML engineering, MLOps, and data science.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Hands-on experience in building ML pipelines and deploying models to production.
• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-Learn.
• Expertise in cloud-based ML environments (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
• Experience leading and mentoring ML or software engineers.
• Excellent communication skills to explain ML concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Machine Learning, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in machine learning/software engineering.
• 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership or management role.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with distributed computing and large-scale datasets.
• Familiarity with MLflow, Kubeflow, Spark, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Compensation:

The U.S. annual compensation range for this position is between $167,500 and $264,000 USD/year. Actual offers may vary based on work location, skills, experience, and education.
