Job Description
About the Role:
As Principal Research Analyst, you will be responsible for oil product market research (specifically, gasoline, diesel, jet/kero) and oil refining analysis.You will have a key role in supporting the Head of Energy Scenarios. You will report to CMA’s Vice President of Energy Markets.
You Will:
- Establish and maintain a reputation for refinery and oil product expertise with the aim of becoming CMA’s center of expertise in these areas
- Collaborate with OPIS journalists and analysts to stay up to date with current market dynamics
- Support the Head of Energy Scenarios by developing points of view on long-term refining dynamics
- Support the Associate Director of the Energy Macro Service by sharing insights into the short-term gasoline markets
- Lead the preparation of models, data sets, and analytics for activities covering oil product markets
- Provides energy & feedstock market expertise for consulting projects and client development
- Develop market presentations and present information in client meetings and at conferences
- Provide neutral and objectively written content within Market Advisory Service content including weekly and monthly reports, special topic papers, and strategic analyses on a consistent basis
- Ensure consistent global market coverage and analysis
- Collaborate with sales personnel to identify new business opportunities for sales and consulting engagements
- Build and maintain industry contact relationships across producers, consumers, traders, and the financial community
You Have:
- 7+ years’ relevant experience in energy data analysis and modeling
- Knowledge of the energy value chain and understanding of related market dynamics
- Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, databases, spreadsheets, process documentation applications, business intelligence applications, and data visualization applications(PowerBI specifically)
- Experience clearly communicating complex content to audiences of varying client levels and technical proficiency
- Experience with modeling refinery unit operations (preferred)
- Bachelor's degree Chemical Engineering (preferred), Chemistry (preferred), Business, Data Science or relevant discipline
