Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
• 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

• 1 year of experience in technical leadership.
• Experience with mobile Android/iOS development or mobile web development.
• Ability to analyze and understand complex problems and their resulting dependencies.

As the Data Science and Engineering team, we drive product excellence, user and ecosystem growth for Search, Gemini and Assistant with data insights. Within Data Science and Engineering, our working group is positioned as the main solutions for ensuring Google connects users with content they find most helpful to fill their information needs. We support critical initiatives for Search and Google, such as Content quality improvement, Personalization, and Gemini. We are also the team behind evaluation methodologies widely adopted by Search that helps in defining its Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.

Responsibilities

• Write and test product or system development code.
• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
