Job Description

You’ll join a small, high-caliber team of machine learning specialists, large scale systems experts, NLP, ASR and computer vision experts, product gurus, customer advocates, and world-class designers who are passionate about the future brought by AI. We move fast, continuously improve, and deliver high-impact results. We’re not only aiming to build AI applications; we strive to build the best applications of AI the world has ever seen.

We have a team of world-class product managers, designers, and engineers who are exceptionally hard-working and all low. Many of our engineers have founded their own startups prior to forming Collaboration AI, and they bring a wide and diverse set of industry experience and expertise with them. We draw on this well of experiences every day as we collaborate on our own product, tech stack, and go to market strategy. We have a strong “eat our own dogfood” culture. We live and breathe Webex every day because we use the platform every day. We're highly collaborative, committed to building great things, and consider it a privilege to learn from each other every day.

What You’ll Do

As a senior technical leader on our machine learning team, you'll be responsible for end-to-end research, prototyping, development and deployment of ML-based cloud services that power intelligent features in products like the Webex Suite, the Webex Contact Center and others. While you will have an opportunity to contribute to ML efforts across several application domains, this role is particularly focused on accelerating the development and deployment of natural language processing (NLP) models. As a senior member of the team, you will be expected to lead large cross-team efforts, lead the overall architecture design of our AI systems, and provide technical supervision and mentorship to other ML engineers on the team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of ML models for NLP tasks, such as text classification, summarization, question answering, information extraction and sentiment analysis.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams, including software engineers, linguists, data scientists, and product managers to develop and ship machine learning models.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in NLP and machine learning and apply them to our work.
  • Find opportunities to file patents or publish at leading conferences in AI.
  • Provide technical mentorship to interns and junior engineers.

Who You Are

Basic Qualifications

  • Masters or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related area of study.
  • At least 7 years of work experience in machine learning, NLP, or related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience programming in Python
  • At least 3 years' experience working with machine learning libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow and scikit-learn.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience designing and shipping NLP models in real world production systems.
  • Demonstrated success and experience in providing technical leadership and mentorship in NLP/ML.
  • Practical experience in NLP tasks, including text classification, entity recognition, question answering and summarization.
  • Hands on experience with deep learning architectures such as Transformers, LSTMs, etc. and transformer-based language models like BERT, GPT and other LLMs.
  • Ability to write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
