Job Description

We are looking for a Vice President (VP) who is a proven, highly analytical problem solver and exceptional leader to be part of our growing team. This individual will lead a team of four with members in the US and India, and should be comfortable rolling up their sleeves to “get the job done” as well as leading strategic initiatives. This role will principally focus on demand sensing and at times will include projects in automation, standard reporting, ad-hoc analytics, content analytics, and interaction analytics. Demand sensing will include

  • Prioritization of client roles and technology market areas,
  • For each role and market, identify data sources that indicate the intensity and momentum of client demand,
  • Test the predictive power of data sources,
  • Identify cross-role and cross-market demand trends,
  • Influence content and staffing plans to match market demand.

In close collaboration with business stakeholders from Data Science, Research Strategy & Operations, and GPM leadership, this VP will develop and execute on an approach to enable the Research & Advisory organization with insights, dashboards, and data to know trends in client demand. Client demand sensing is important to decide what content to publish, how to staff to handle interactions that answer client questions, and to budget in a way that matches capacity to client need. This is an exciting opportunity to be hands-on in our efforts to fuel Gartner’s revenue growth and retention through Gartner’s world-class, must-have content and extraordinary and timely client interactions.

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with stakeholders (e.g., IT, Research Strategy & Operations, Content Research Excellence, and Global Product Management) to understand business needs and capabilities that can help us sense demand. Use demand signals as the basis to influence outcomes with respect to Content publishing, Interaction staffing, Conference topics, and Research & Advisory staffing. Continuously and collaboratively prioritize efforts against areas of highest business impact.
  • Develop and continuously improve a methodology to know trends in client interest by client role.
  • Execute on the approach to deliver functionality iteratively.
  • Continuous improvement: Take initiative to identify and roll out improvement initiatives.
  • Strategic initiatives: Partner with stakeholders and intrateam colleagues to define and implement strategic initiatives and key, cross-organizational deliverables.
  • Stakeholder management & communication: Build deep and lasting relationships with stakeholders across the Research & Advisory organization as well as other functional

areas, including IT, R&A, and GPM. Identify opportunities for collaboration and “win-win” shared projects across functions.

What you will need:

  • Experience: 15+ years of progressive business experience involving advanced business analytics, complex problem solving, and business strategy.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required with a Master’s Degree preferred. Degree with a concentration in statistics, data science, mathematics, engineering, computer science, or operations research preferred.
  • Exceptional problem solving: Proven track record of solving complex problems, thinking creatively, and using data to influence senior level stakeholders. Demonstrated thought leadership with high business impact throughout career.
  • Success in fast-paced environments: Track record of success in environments with competing and continuously evolving priorities.
  • Leadership: Ability to lead international teams; engaging teams and key stakeholders across business functions and at all levels of the organization.
  • Collaboration: Strong collaboration and influencing skills in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication – structured, engaging and compelling.

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 156,000 USD - 217,350 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan. Our talent acquisition team will provide the specific opportunity on our bonus or incentive programs to eligible candidates.
