Job Description

In this Role:

  • As a Software Development Manager, you will have a mix of technical and people leadership responsibilities under the overall direction of the Associate Director for the Clinical Information Services platform. You should be as comfortable coaching and mentoring team members as you are reviewing technical architecture and providing input to product roadmaps.
  • You will manage a cross functional team of Software/Data Engineers and Test Engineers - spending a portion of your time mentoring and coaching individuals to help them achieve their career goals. We view this as a key part of building and retaining a high-quality team.
  • Our team operates in a fast-moving agile manner using the Scrum framework so experience with Agile teams is a plus. You will work with a closely-knit team of Developers, Data Scientists, Product managers and Testers - so excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must.
  • The ideal candidate will have a solid technical background in software/data development with a strong emphasis on the platform stack. Familiarity with production AI/ML solutions and technologies will be highly beneficial.
  • Continuous learning is vital to this role as the technology around the data and AI/ML landscape is rapidly changing. Having a working familiarity with Data Pipelines, Data/AI Platforms (e.g., Databricks) and the ability to stay current in these areas will be key for this role.

What you need to succeed:

  • 10 years software development experience with a strong emphasis on data solutions and high traffic API implementations
  • Expert level knowledge in programming languages (Java, Python)
  • Expert level technical problem solving and solution design skills
  • Expert level knowledge of persistence layers and data architecture patterns
  • Proven ability to guide technical initiatives from ideation to implementation to meet strategic goals
  • Proven drive to support continuous improvement
  • Experience with Domain Driven Design
  • Experience leading a team of developers with a focus on cross functional collaboration
  • Experience working with AWS Platform and microservice technologies
  • Experience designing and building REST APIs
  • Experience transforming business requirements into elegant designs and clean, unit tested code
  • Experience working on a cross functional Agile Scrum team
  • Experience with building internationalized solutions
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling and patterns
  • Exposure to Data and Data Science Platforms (e.g., Databricks)
  • Proficiency at assessing and clearly communicating risk
  • Proficiency with tools like JIRA, Confluence
