The Generative AI Technology team at Point72 is a group of skilled professionals who are responsible for conceptualizing and developing, the firm's Generative AI efforts. The team works closely with business stakeholders, the Tech Innovation team, and development teams across Technology to deploy cutting-edge AI technology that has the ability to transform the firm’s operations.

What you’ll do

As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines, ensuring data quality and availability for various applications and requirements. You will work closely with other team members to design and implement data storage solutions and optimize data processing tasks.

Specifically, you will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to ingest, process, and store large volumes of structured and unstructured data
  • Ensure data quality and integrity by implementing data validation, monitoring, and anomaly detection techniques
  • Work with external teams to explore opportunities for innovation and develop corresponding bespoke data solutions
  • Implement and optimize data storage solutions, using best practices for version control, data modeling, and continuous integration
  • Continuously optimize and improve data pipelines based on performance testing and user feedback
  • Conduct experiments and perform data analysis to evaluate pipeline performance and identify areas for improvement
  • Develop and implement practical and measurable performance criteria for evaluating data pipeline performance
  • Work with engineering and product teams to integrate data pipelines into applications and collaborate with other team members to identify and solve technical challenges and implement innovative solutions
  • Keep up to date with the latest advancements in data engineering and bring new ideas to the team
  • Write clear and concise technical documentation for data pipelines, storage solutions, and proof of concept use cases

What’s required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on building and maintaining data pipelines
  • Strong knowledge of programming languages such as Java, Python, or Scala
  • Experience with big data frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark, or Flink
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience working with Python and/or SQL
  • Hands-on experience working with Databricks
  • Experience in working with relational and non-relational databases, such as SQL, NoSQL, and time-series databases
  • Familiarity with data integration, data warehousing, and ETL tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design and implement complex data processing tasks
  • Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Curiosity and the ability to embrace uncertainty and be comfortable with failure while exploring with new ideas
  • Commitment and adherence to the highest ethical standards
