Job Description

The Division of General Medicine is seeking a Statistical Analyst/Data Manager. The candidate would have primary responsibility for data integrity and data analysis of various NIH-funded studies.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with investigators and staff at Columbia and at other sites.
  • Provide support for primary decisions related to analyses according to knowledge/experience level.
  • Provide support for broader decisions in consultation with PI.
  • Report to, communicate and offer advice to PI regarding program performance and suggestions for improvement.
  • Maintain and organize datasets.
  • Perform statistical analyses of datasets, including cross-sectional and longitudinal data analysis.
  • Assist in preparation of manuscripts for publication.
  • Participate in authorship of scientific manuscripts.
  • Assist with power analyses and other aspects of study development and grant submissions.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, training and experience, plus at least four years of relevant related research and programming experience
  • Master's degree in biostatistics, statistics or public health with emphasis on biostatistics and/or epidemiology would substitute in part for experience
  • Ability to independently program and perform statistical analysis in SAS or R
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, quantitative and writing skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with investigators and other staff
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of other statistical packages (e.g. for genetics), quantitative imaging, data science, or website programming

Other Requirements

  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
