Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Bioinformatician. Bioinformatician is a critical member of CPMG and will perform intensive analysis of human genome genotype and sequence data for gene discovery in complex human disease.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct standard analysis for genome sequencing next-generation sequencing (NGS) datasets (e.g. exome, genome, RNAseq)
  • Implement structures and platforms for NGS annotation and variant classification
  • Implement structures and platforms for integration of phenotypic and genomic data on HPC environments and cloud platforms
  • Develop customized tools and pipelines for integrated analysis of genomic and phenotypic data.
  • Contribute to the scientific proposals and requests for resources to complete scientific goals
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with data security and IRB rules
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Bioinformatics or related field, or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience
  • Experience in bioinformatics and genetics field
  • Team oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills, collaboration skills and an eagerness to learn
  • Exposure to NGS data analysis and human genetics
  • Experience in Unix/Linux systems including HPC environments
  • Scripting languages: Python or Perl

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or Postdoctoral degree in relevant filed would substitute for experience
  • Training in statistics or machine learning

Other Requirements

  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
