Job Description

We have an immediate opening for a talented and self-motivated Senior Informatics Specialist who can succeed in a collaborative research-intensive work environment. 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:

• Managing entire data science pipeline for one or more large multi-site research projects; software architecture for informatics intervention studies; and performing data science analyses using advanced mathematical and statistical modeling, including machine learning methods.
• Serve as the CUSON Data Navigator for access and extraction of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital data for research and offer health informatics and data science services (e.g., extraction of clinical data warehouse and electronic health record data, working in data enclaves such as the All of Us Researcher Workbench, machine learning, natural language processing).
• Lead and contribute to development of data science pipelines and advanced mathematical and statistical modeling.
• Contribute to improving the reliability and quality of data and have experience working with clinical data and clinical vocabularies.
• Contribute to the design of new software applications and enhance the functionality of existing applications and tools for use by other researchers.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned and requested.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience (computer science, biomedical informatics, information science, data science, mathematics and/or statistics); plus five years of related experience. Advanced knowledge of relational and other databases (Oracle, SQL, PL/SQ), statistical software and programming languages, such as R, SAS, SPSS, Matlab, Python and big data management processes.
• Four years of relevant experience with a variety of big data including clinical data.
• Experience with data science pipelines, clinical data, and health information technology.
• Professional experience in a number of programming languages, databases, and development environments. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent in education and experience (computer science, biomedical informatics, information science, data science, mathematics, and/or statistics), plus five years of related experience.
• Six years related experience in technology, information management, relational database design and development, and data mining or statistics, including programming, managing and maintaining data systems.
• Experience working with Jupyter Notebook and data enclaves such as the All of Us Researcher Workbench, National COVID Collaboration Cohort.
• Ability to exercise leadership in data analysis activities as part of a research projects and CCHIDS activities.
• Ability to prioritize and manage the needs of multiple researchers.
• Ability to think independently as well as perform tasks according to the directions of Center leaders.
• Very strong advanced mathematical and statistical analysis skills.
