Position Description

Redhorse Corporation (Redhorse) is seeking an exceptional Data Scientist for the Conditions Based Maintenance (CBM+) Program performing predictive maintenance and predictive logistics model development and forecasting work. The Data Scientist will analyze signal and fault data and develop Sensor Based Algorithms (SBAs) with the objective of increasing vehicle availability while reducing life cycle maintenance costs. Pairing these data with failure data from maintenance depot records, the Data Scientist will build the next generation of predictive failure models for the US Marine Corps fleet of vehicles.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop Sensor Based Algorithms (SBAs) models for a subset of USMC ground vehicles using AI/ML modeling techniques
  • Develop failure models for a subset of USMC ground vehicles using text-based Maintenance data with modern NLP techniques
  • Integrate SBA models with maintenance data models to provide an integrated predictive system
  • Field novel predictive failure models
  • Generate monthly enhanced reliability centered maintenance forecasts for assigned vehicles and components
  • Generate and maintain a long-range supply forecast for assigned vehicles and components
  • Participate in user and stakeholder engagements and technical discussions
  • Gather and provide feedback on best practices and recommended enhancements to the platform
  • Document work performed in technical reports
  • Mentor and develop junior data scientists and other team members.

Minimum Basic Requirements for Skills, Experience, Education and Credentials include:

  • US citizen with a Secret US government clearance. Applicants who are not US Citizens, and those who do not have a current and active Secret security clearance will not be considered for this role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a highly quantitative field (Computer Science, Machine Learning, Operational Research, Statistics, Mathematics, etc.) or equivalent professional or military experience
  • SW Engineer or Data Scientist with 4 years of experience including experience in AI/ML modeling, applied NLP, anomaly detection, and related topics
  • Expertise coding in Python and visualization tools like Tableau/PowerBI/Qlik
  • Understanding of SBAs and Weibull distribution for predicting part failures
  • Experience modeling real world data with unsupervised techniques
  • Proven ability to drive key client communication and expectations
  • Experience engaging clients and developing relationships at the highest levels of the Federal Government
  • Strong communication skills and ability to understand business functionality
  • Ability to foster positive business relationships
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with office productivity software, such as Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and file sharing applications.
  • Able to travel as needed to meet with government customers and stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications include:

  • Advanced degree in a highly quantitative field (Computer Science, Machine Learning, Operational Research, Statistics, Mathematics, etc.) or equivalent professional or military experience.
  • Experience with Predictive Maintenance / Logistics
  • Experience with sensor-based failure predictions and modeling
  • Experience with Monte-Carlo simulation and calculation of confidence levels
  • Experience with data from JLTV, MVTR, and LVSR platforms
  • Experience using Databricks and/or Qlik
  • Expertise in Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and CAN bus J1939 data/algorithms
  • Experience with the Advana Platform
